BARBARA JOAN (WHYTE) GILLEY
November 14, 1927 - April 28, 2022
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Joan Gilley on April 28, 2022 at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home. She was 94 years old.
She leaves behind her three children, Janice, Neil (Gwen) and Craig Gilley; grandchildren, Brant Gilley, Samantha Pauls (Adam) and Carly Boomer-Gilley; great-grandchildren, Alicia and Owen Pauls; sister-in-law Glady Dowgray; nieces Jill Sehn and Ellen Rattai; and God Daughter, Susan Dyck; as well as numerous cousins and treasured friends. She was predeceased by her husband James (Jim) Gilley (2004).
Barb was born on November 14, 1927, in Toronto Ontario, and was the only child of Roseanne and Charles Whyte. She lived in Toronto until she moved to Peterborough with her parents to run a boarding house during the war. She married the love of her life and moved to Winnipeg in 1955, where she and her husband raised their three children. She was friends with many in her neighbourhood and at work. She also enriched the lives of many people in her years as a member of John Black Church, and a volunteer at Good Neighbours.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a future, yet to be determined date.
