  • My condolences to Linda and the family. I have so, so many fond memories of Clif and I'm grateful you shared him with us. I'll miss the pickerel runs, the hockey pools, the golf - but most of all - catching up on all our political stuff and being able to share a 'rant' with a true friend. He worried about others and took life in stride. He lived a life of integrity, honour, and public service, and I will miss him. - Posted by: Randy Schulz (friend) on: May 31, 2022

  • I did not grow up by his side, neither did we work together. We were neighbours for about one year and during this time Clif and Linda were the nicest neighbours we’ve ever had. Clif offered his help we I most needed it. He was always supportive and reassuring. Nelba, Victor, Octavio, and I are deeply sorry for this news. We’ll always remember Clif with love. Tyler, Kelsey, and Linda, receive our condolences. - Posted by: Daniel Avilan (Friend) on: May 19, 2022

  • So sorry to hear of Clif Evans passing. A colleague. A friend. A soul mate. I can’t help but think back to when I first met Clif. He was a hotelier. The Mayor of Riverton. The NDP candidate in the Interlake. I was curious why he decided to run for the NDP. Well he said. I am from Transcona before going on to talk about why Riverton and the Interlake needed strong representation. From Transcona indeed. No matter what Clif accomplished- and he accomplished a lot- he never forgot where he came from and the people he knew. Whether it was as a junior hockey player, hotelier, Mayor, MLA, dedicated ministerial assistant or Constituency Assistant, Clif made a difference. One example sums it up. Today as Manitoba is being hit by yet another flood I can’t help but remember what happened on March 25 2009. I was minister responsible for EMO. Clif was ministerial assistant. We were talking in the office after hours when the phone rang. Clif insisted in answering the phone. It was from a resident of West St. Paul desperate for help to deal with the flash flooding they were hit with. Within a few hours we had contacted the local municipal leaders, the premier and dispatched the assistance people needed. It was Clif that made all the difference. There were so many other things that Clif did over the years. One thing that he was particularly proud of was his work with the former MLA association. It was classic Clif. He was never one to let partisan affiliations get in the way of working with people of all parties. Most of all I will miss him as a friend. I can’t count the number of times that we talked about anything and everything you could imagine. Yes at times politics but so much else. Especially family. Clif was so proud of his family. He was everything you could ever ask for in a friend. Always there for you. Loyal to the end. I am not alone. There are so many people that counted Clif as one of their friends, whether it be in Transcona or the Interlake, Riverton or the many First Nations where Clif was literally part of the community. We will miss you Clif. Linda. Thanks for sharing Clif with us. Our condolences to you and the family. RIP - Posted by: Steve Ashton (Friend. Colleague ) on: May 15, 2022

  • Our sincere condolences to Linda, Tyler and Kelsey. Clif was always proud of the accomplishments of his wife and children. He often let us know of their accomplishments, and praised them a lot. Clif was determined to spearhead changes for the causes he was passionate about as he became mayor of our community and left early to run for government office, where he won representing the NDP as a candidate in our large region. He was determined to be a great representative in government and worked very long hours. He will always be remembered for his determination and fight for the rights of the people he represented. Our deepest condolences for the loss of your beloved Clif! May his soul rest in peace! - Posted by: Lloyd & Jeannette Roche (Friends) on: May 14, 2022

  • We used to call ourselves twins as we sat together at the back of the legislature. I cannot forget that smile and that Cliff chuckle that served to make everything seem ok. If I miss him so much I cannot help but feel how tough it is for all the family. God Bless Dave Chomiak - Posted by: Dave Chomiak (Friend) on: May 13, 2022

  • It is with profound sadness and deep sorrow, when I learned of the passing of my true friend Clif Evans. We go back at least 50 years and were still very close. I want to express my heartfelt condolences to Linda, Tyler and Kelsey. I would also, at this time, reach out to his siblings Lorna and Randy, with my thoughts and prayers. For all of those who crossed paths with Clif, may his memories be a blessing to each and everyone of you. Peace to Clif. • Too many memories to write in a short tribute. So many good times playing and talking sports (among other things lol) up to the very end. Driving to Riverton for fish and solving world problems, barbecues, travelling the province playing ball back in the day, golf at Hecla, hockey coaching memories, having a beverage or two and again solving the world’s problems and most recently Our Goldeyes PACs. Whatever the occasion over the years they were always eventful and many great times were shared. More importantly a knowledge that there was always someone you could count on and confide in when needed. You were a valued friend Clif, one I will soon not forget. Life will certainly be different and not quite as rich without you in it. Rest In Peace my friend. You will be missed. - Posted by: Frank Porco (Close friend) on: May 11, 2022
