JOHN (SCORTCH) SAWATZKY
1926 – 2022
Peacefully on Saturday, July 9, 2022, just two months before his 96th birthday, 'Scortch' passed away, with family by his side.
Scortch leaves to mourn his wife Justina, children, Karla, Wendy, Jenith and Lindsay, six grandchildren, nine great-grands, sisters, Evelyn and Frieda along with many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Jeanette Kate (nee Tasker), son Doug 'Young Scortch', sisters, Marge, Erna, brothers, Wally and Leonard.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the St. Thomas Anglican Church, 131 8th St. in Morden with interment to follow at Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to Morden Recreation Centre at:

So sorry to hear about the loss of your father Jenith, Karla & Wendy, I have a lot of great memories, living a short cut through a back yard, to your place. And spending a lot of time at your house. Plus French fries, with gravy at the good old Esso station, where your dad was always present. Karla, I have enjoyed your updates on Facebook. And Jenith way too many stories to share. With deep sympathy to Karla, Wendy, Jenith and their families in the passing of their Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Scortch Sawatzky. He will be missed and remembered for his kind heart, jovial spirit, and dedication to his community. He was a volunteer fire fighter for many years, business man and dedicated community volunteer.
