SCOTT CAMPBELL

(Gary) Scott Campbell, the much-cherished son of Dianne Campbell-Scobie and Gary Campbell (deceased) and stepfather, Wayne, peacefully passed away September 3, 2022, in his 66th year after a courageous battle with cancer.
The dear brother of Brian (deceased 2011). Scott will be sadly missed by many cousins and other close family members, friends and coworkers. Scott loved being a member of a large, closely-knit extended family. He was intelligent, athletic, fun-loving, gregarious, and his sense of humour brightened any room he entered, especially if the opportunity to tease presented itself.
In the last 20 years Scott moved to Collingwood to coach the Collingwood Blues Junior A hockey team and remained to work in IT for the Home Building Centre. During this time Scott, also, wrote a weekly column for the Winnipeg Free Press regarding the NHL Jets and was often featured on radio interviews related to the new Jets.
An avid sports participant, Scott played in many, but hockey was his passion. He played junior A hockey for the London Knights, WHA hockey for Houston Aeros and NHL hockey for the original Winnipeg Jets, as captain, before he had to retire for health reasons. He was a member of the Jets that won the Avco Cup in 1979.
Being an animal lover, horses and dogs were his favourites. He owned and raced many of his horses both in Canada and the U.S.
A celebration of Scott's life is being planned for mid-June 2023 and the exact date will be announced closer to that time.
Any donations in his memory would be appreciated but Scott's favourite is Make-a- Wish or Guelph General Hospital.
A tree will be planted in memory of G. Scott Campbell in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
