EMILY MORRISSETTE

The daughter of Leslie Bruce and Minnie Tulp, Emily was the third of four children.
She was born in Winnipeg, and raised in Camper, Manitoba and was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, Dorothy, Leonard and George and her son George.
Some of her earliest and happiest memories were of spending time with her father in the garage that he built and operated.
During her teenage years, she developed a sense of independence and a talent for sewing her own clothing. As she matured, so did her creative abilities and her taste for adventure and new experiences.
Before she retired, she had held 28 employment positions (most often involving financial accounts) from Manitoba to British Columbia. Family and friends found it was folly to record her current address in ink rather than in pencil.
She enjoyed her travels across Canada, the United States, and the Yukon. After her retirement, she used her imagination and talent for sewing, knitting, and crocheting, to create anything from children's clothing, Christmas ornaments or novelties, to kitchen accessories. Many of her creations were sold at craft sales that she either initiated or participated in.
In addition to her other interests, Emily participated in or enthusiastically watched and followed many sports including bowling, curling, football, and hockey. She also enjoyed playing the VLTs at the casino - not really a sport, but nevertheless ...
She truly missed her independent life, but sadly, her declining health made it impossible to continue, and the present pandemic even made it difficult to fully explore her new home at Bethania. Although, she occasionally was able to enjoy the surrounding gardens and ponds, Emily also enjoyed seeing the visiting pets, watching the resident birds, cats, and fish as well as nearby wildlife through her window.
Throughout her lifetime, Emily displayed her generous and caring nature by being available whenever a family member or friend needed help or support. In fact, just being with, or having contact with anyone near and dear to her, brought her great joy.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, a few close friends, and some distant relatives who have made contact with her. She will be missed.
We wish to offer a sincere thank you to all the staff and caregivers at Bethania Personal Care Home.
Cremation has taken place and although she did not wish for a formal service, we plan to have a family gathering in her honour in the not too distant future.
