IRENE GARUS

Irene Garus, age 94, passed away peacefully in Winnipeg on September 13, 2022.
She was born on August 28, 1928, in Rycerska, Poland to Bronislaw and Maria Posadziejewski. She arrived in Winnipeg at the age of 22, and met and married the love of her life, Michael Garus in 1953. He preceded her in death in 2002. Irene and Michael bought a beautiful home together in St. Vital and lived there together for over 50 years until Michael's death. They were blessed with one son Oliver, in 1955.
Irene was employed by the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba in a career she loved for over 30 years. She was a wonderful cook and family and friends looked forward to her signature dishes during holiday meals. She took meticulous care of her flower garden, especially her roses. Irene's special talent was her extraordinary ability to design and sew beautiful one-of-a-kind clothing.
Irene is survived by her son Oliver, niece Sabina Posadziejewski, nephew Terrance Posadziejewski and their families.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg for the extraordinary level of compassionate care Irene received during her final days.
A celebration of Irene's life will be announced at a later date.
