GWENDOLYN VICTORIA SINCLAIR (GWEN)
Date of Passing: Sep 20, 2022
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySINCLAIR: Gwendolyn "Gwen" Victoria, age 94 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, following a brief stay at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Her daughters, Kathy and Lynne, were by her side singing her favorite songs. Gwen was predeceased by her parents Juliana and Rudy Richter and loving husband Vern. She is survived by her children Keith Sinclair, Lynne (Sid) Saunders and Kathy (Nick) Vandale; grandchildren Ali Vandale (Will Grierson), Jeff Saunders (Kirsti), Alicia (Gaelan) Noble-Kats and Hilary (Robert) Humphrey; brother Ernie Richter; and many nieces and nephews. Gwen was born in Winnipeg and raised primarily in Seven Sisters. Her chosen career as a registered nurse took her to health care facilities in Portage, Teulon, Winnipeg, Brandon, and then retiring from the Assiniboine Centre in 1978. Gwen met Vern at a barn dance in Portage; their love of dancing drew them together and they were married on June 20, 1953. Following Vern's final transfer with Manitoba Hydro, the family moved to Brandon in 1969. They met many people through Hydro, AA and Alanon and these wonderful friendships lasted throughout their lives. They loved playing cards, golfing, watching curling on TV, attending Brier events, dressing up for Halloween, and of course, dancing. Gwen developed a love for clogging and happily tapped her way to the Calgary Stampede, where the Prairie Oasis Clogging group won 1st Place in the Seniors Talent Competition in 1992 and again in 1993. Gwen was kind, quiet, and very content to spend time in her home. She was a voracious reader, enjoyed doing crosswords, and followed politics and the news daily. Gwen and Vern moved to Lions Manor in 2011, and after Vern passed in 2016, she continued to enjoy morning coffees, weekly lunches and monthly dinners at the Manor. She always believed in daily stretching and walked the halls of Lions Manor many times a day. She was so appreciative of everything her family and friends did for her and was never demanding. Gwen was a good friend to many, and a wonderful Mom and Grandma. The family would like to thank Dr. Nell and the wonderful staff at the Boissevain Health Centre, and Dr. Connelly and the kind and compassionate staff in Palliative Care at the Assiniboine Centre. The Celebration of Gwen's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, September 24, 2022. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gwen may be made to a charity of one's choice.
