FREDRICK LLOYD EDWARDS (RICK)
Date of Passing: Oct 03, 2022
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARDS: It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Fredrick "Rick" Lloyd Edwards at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, October 3, 2022. Rick was born in Russell, Manitoba. The family moved around to a few small towns in Manitoba before moving to Brandon. Rick enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces (Infantry) for 3 years. When he left the forces, he worked a number of jobs until he settled on being a Correctional Officer at the Brandon Correctional Institute where he worked until he retired. To keep busy after retiring, he worked as a long-haul truck driver for about three years. Rick met his wife Marilyn in 1965 and they were married in February of 1967. In 1970, they had a son, Chris. They were married for 55 years. Rick loved to hunt, fish and camp, something he passed on to his son, Chris. The family started out camping but Rick built his own log cabin at Pelican Lake and the family enjoyed spending every weekend boating, fishing, water skiing and sitting around the camp fire. There was an unfortunate fire that destroyed the cabin, so Rick had a bigger log cabin built. They entertained many family and friends before eventually selling the cabin. The family started RVing in a motorhome once they retired and they spent their winters in Laughlin, Nevada where they met their friends Don and Charlotte every year. Rick loved to work on his motorhomes and was constantly fixing something on the RV. He was a great handyman and could fix and repair anything. Rick loved to talk to people and could remember people, places and things from way back. He loved to walk his dog Mandy and she was his constant companion. She will miss him greatly. Rick will be remembered for his great story telling skills, his ability to talk to people, his ability to put his handyman skills to use and help other people, his ability to be there for others and his wonderful sense of humor. Rick will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Rick is survived by his devoted wife Marilyn, son Chris and granddaughter Jessica; brother Bob (Janet), nephew Jeff (Deb) and great-niece Kinzie, nephew James (Tiffany), great-nieces Ramona and Ainsley, niece Kimberly (Lyle) great-nieces Breanna and Khole; sister Kathy Seaferth, niece Janet (James), great-niece Nathalie and great-nephew William; sister Janet St. Pierre; sister-in-law Faye (Rick), nephew Mike and great-nephew Rowen.
