Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I was shocked and in disbelief when I heard about Dave. I had the pleasure of working with him for several years out of Carpathia school. Dave was very loyal and dedicated to the kids he worked with. He had a calm demeanor which put the kids at ease. He was always the utmost professional and made many friends and connections in the “South” end schools. Not many come along that are able to do the kind of work he did and leave the lasting impact that he did. Many schools, educators, children and families benefited from his work. He will be missed… My thoughts are with his family…rest in peace Dave - Posted by: Linda Renton (Coworker friend) on: Oct 23, 2022

  • I was very sad to hear about Dave passing. As a classroom teacher, I saw Dave make a positive difference in so many students lives. His calm, supportive approach helped students manage their behaviour. He always knew which students were Jets fans and would bring leftover programs to school. He will be missed by many colleagues and students. - Posted by: Jennifer McKiel (coworker) on: Oct 22, 2022

  • Dear Kim and family. I am so saddened to hear of Dave’s passing. I worked with him for many years and appreciate his skill with working with challenging behaviour. He was always able to connect with kids and adults and had a vast range of knowledge about many things. Dave was always willing to go beyond the boundaries of the school day and contributed to school picnics, concerts, etc. his job with the school division was one of the most challenging and he did it well. - Posted by: Holly Mackie (Coworker) on: Oct 22, 2022

  • I am so very sorry for your sudden loss. Dave and I worked together for many years, our team home schools being Carpathia, Lord Roberts, and Luxton. He touched the lives of so many students, with his calm, matter-of-fact, and gentle nature. Our jobs at times could be very challenging, but Dave was always the consummate professional and earned the respect of both adults and students. Those students were very fortunate to have had such a positive male role model, and I know that Dave made a difference in their lives. He and I used to chat about our own kids, what they were up to, and the challenges they faced. I will miss him greatly, as will our whole team, and everyone with whom Dave worked. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Larysa Fitkowsky (Co-worker) on: Oct 22, 2022
