(née SALTEL)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, memère, Florence, at the age of 80 years old, at the Saint Boniface General Hospital, Manitoba on October 27, 2022, after a short and courageous battle against cancer.
Florence was born June 18, 1942 in Ste-Geneviève, lived on the farm until she married René Bourgouin and then moved into their house in Saint Boniface. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 5, 2022.
Florence leaves to mourn her husband René Bourgouin; her children, Eveline (Norbert) Touchette, Jacqueline (Marc) Jubinville, Jacques Bourgouin, Rosanne (Gérald) Bouvier, Rachel Bourgouin (Daryle Hicks); her grandchildren, Alain, Stéphanie (Eric) Magne, Josée Touchette, Mathieu and Karine Jubinville, Danika, Colin, and Brianne Bouvier, and her great- grandchildren.
She also leaves her parents: Henri Saltel + and Albertine Gauthier +; her sisters and brothers: Marie (Marcien +) Bourgouin, Juliette (Andrew) Brandt, Florent + (Georgette) Saltel, Rene + (Dorothy) Saltel, Albert (Debbie) Saltel, Ephrem (Carol) Saltel, Angie (Roland) Geiger, Georgette (John) Vagi, Norman + (Florence) Saltel, Michel Saltel, Germaine (Peter) Foubert and Léo (Yvonne) Saltel; also 33 nieces and nephews and 54 great- nieces and great-nephews.

She also leaves the members of the Bourgouin family.
Florence loved to cook. Everyone will remember the meals for family gatherings at Easter and special occasions.
Once the children finished their schooling, she completed her high school courses and graduated with her GED. Before getting married, she worked at the Saint Boniface General Hospital, in a daycare, at Metro Drugs in Windsor Park, at the Caisse Populaire in Saint Boniface, and as an educational assistant for the DSFM.
Florence loved to volunteer and help her community, whether it be with the Festival du Voyageur, with the Knights of Columbus, Le Relais des Pionniers, with le Pavilion Canadien Français during Folklorama, with the Ladies Catholic League with Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens Parish or with the Saint Boniface Diocese, and with the Club Eclipse as a member and as president. She helped with cooking and knitting classes with the youth and seniors. She loved to act in plays with "Le Théâtre des ainé.e.s", a group in Saint Boniface. René and Florence square danced with « Paws-N-Taws ». Her other hobbies included planting and taking care of flowers and gardens, playing a round of Canasta or Toc with her grandchildren, knitting with friends and grandchildren, and preparing meals. Tuesdays and Thursdays were reserved for curling.
Florence loved camping, travelling whether it be with family or groups exploring Canada, the United States and Europe. She also enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Gull Lake.
The family would like to thank the staff of the 5th (Family Medicine) and 8th floors (Palliative Care) of the Saint Boniface General Hospital for their care and compassion.
A service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, power point presentation and eulogy at 10:00 a.m., funeral at 10:30 a.m. at the Saints Martyrs Parish, 289 Dussault Avenue. Will also be on youtube.ca - Sts Martyrs Canadiens Winnipeg.

My heartfelt sympathy to Rene and family. I remember Florence as a generous, happy, energetic, resourceful, caring person, and talented in so many ways. Being the second oldest of a large family gave her an abundance of resilience. I have a lot of fond memories of our childhood with all the many family gatherings.
