PAULINE MARIE LACROIX

Unlike the way she lived, Pauline passed away peacefully and quietly at the Pinawa Hospital on the afternoon of October 27, 2022. Her passing was witnessed by a deer at her window that had come to bid her farewell.
Pauline was born to Edouard and Angèle Lacroix on September 15, 1952. She leaves to mourn her daughter Joelle; four brothers, Ron (Debi), Guy (Agathe), Julien (Lillianne), and Roger (Huguette); three sisters, Joanne (Don), Lise (Ted), and Aline (Gilles), and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister-in-law Vicki, and nephews, Daniel and Mario.
Pauline not only lived her life to the beat of her own drum, she had a completely unique orchestra. Her origins were in Ile des Chênes but she spent her adult life in Vancouver until recently. She was a lively individual who never left anyone indifferent as she lived both her good and bad habits to the hilt. She had a sharp wit and had inherited and mastered the characteristic family sense of humour. Up to the onset of her illness, Pauline pursued her love of travel, and visited Mexico several times, as well as Brazil. Having billeted many international students over the years, Pauline's passing has echoed all over the world. We cherish all the fun times we all had with her. She will be missed.
The family acknowledges the fine care shown to Pauline by Dr. Bruneau and the nursing staff at the Pinawa Hospital. Their service was second to none.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at La Paroisse Sainte Famille / Holy Family Parish, 778 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, MB. All are welcome.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • My dear sister…… I am sitting in a restaurant in Guayabitos, Mexico and thinking about our last trip here with you and Philippe. You sure did love Mexico. I am thinking of you often and miss you. I see you here and there, kids running on the beach and you sitting there laughing with them and giving out candies. Love you and miss you forever ma p’tite souris! - Posted by: Agathe Lacroix (Sister-in-law) on: Feb 27, 2023

  • I wish to offer my sincere condolences to Joelle and Pauline's brothers, sisters and families. Having met Pauline in the late 60's when she and I both lived with my sister in Thompson Mb and finding out our fathers were mates in the CNR shops in Transcona. We maintained our close relationship throughout our marriages and grew closer after I moved to Campbell River on Vancouver Island in1996.I want to thank Agathe for letting me know that Pauline was in Pinawa Hospital. When I told my son Nick of her being in Pinewa close to his home near Garson he asked if he could go to visit "My very Kind friend"! Sadley Agathe replied that Pauline was no longer able to receive visits! May you Rest in Peace my little sister! - Posted by: Larry Kobyll (long time friends) on: Nov 05, 2022

  • I am heartbroken over the passing of my dear sweet friend. I met Pauline on my first day at work in Vancouver and in time we grew to be like sisters. I have so many memories, we had so many awesome adventures together, like the time we flew to Winnipeg and drove her parents to Thunder Bay for one of her nieces weddings. Getting to know her parents was very special to me, it was easy to see where Pauline learned to be so open and loving, her whole family was so warm and welcoming, the love they have for each other was heartwarming to see and it was nice to be a part of that. I don't know how to say goodbye to one of the best friends I've even had, she will always be in my heart and I will always cherish the times we had. • Pauline was our immediate neighbour here in East Vancouver - for a few years. At the turn of the century. Our daughter was just born and we were often in the frontyard with her - her playground. Pauline would regularly be at our shared low-fence; chatting and sharing. She always had a gift for Loa (daughter) on her birthday. Pauline's house was often social and had a welcoming feel. She was a proud homeowner and took good care of her home. We were very fortunate to have a social and interactive little community of houses on that block. New families, kids and Pauline always interested as she'd been there and done that. RIP dear Pauline. - Posted by: Russell Maynard (Neighbour beside her East Vancouver home in early 2000) on: Nov 03, 2022
