MAUNULA: It is with deep sadness that we announce that Allan Raymond Maunula passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the age of 90 years. Allan started his own trucking business at an early age – Maunula Trucking in Thunder Bay, ON. In 1973, he purchased Fort Rouge Motel in Winnipeg, MB and in 1974, the family moved to Brandon, MB, where he purchased Circle 8 Drive Inn. He was also a manager at A&W then Barney's Motel. Allan then worked at MTS before moving on to Cancade, driving trucks all over. He always said "I've been driving 75 years." He finally retired at the age of 73 years. Allan married the love of his life, Elsie Ojala in Thunder Bay, ON on June 28, 1952. They raised six children: Harvey, Larry, Brenda, Brian, Eve and Cindy. Allan was predeceased by his loving wife Elsie, sons Harvey and Brian, and great-granddaughter Kaila. Allan is survived by his son Larry and daughters Brenda (Rob) Tackaberry, Eve (Dan) Mowatt and Cindy (Rich) Noort; daughter-in-law Peggy; grandchildren Shawna (Vincent), Amanda (Ryan), Jeff (Raelene), Scott (Jaimie), Kyle, Tyson and Brooke (Lasse); and great-grandchildren Callie, Jaylynn, Ashlynn, Paesyn, Vincent, Sophie, Matthew, Chase, Teija, Shae, Natalie and Rylee. The Funeral Service will take place at Grace Lutheran Church, 3101 Victoria Avenue, Brandon on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donation in memory of Allan may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard, Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5.
