LAURA AMELIA BAILEY
(nee WARNER)
Laura Amelia Bailey (Nana) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
Laura was born on November 24, 1932 at Quebec City, Quebec, the only child of George Edward Warner and Dorothy Louise (Reddy) Warner. During her school years, she attended a private boarding school at Coaticook, Quebec. Laura joined the RCAF in 1950. In addition to packing parachutes, she was a champion sprinter. While based at Trenton, Ontario, she met the love of her life, Ron Bailey. Laura and Ron married on Valentine's Day, 1953. During their life together they lived in Trenton, Toronto, Kingston, Montreal and finally settled in Winnipeg. After Ron retired in 1993, he and Laura were rarely more than arm's reach from each other. On Valentine's Day, 2013, they celebrated sixty years of marriage.
Laura loved the holidays especially Christmas as everyone knows, from trains to the Grinch. It was a time when she would host her entire family. Laura always cherished spending time with her beloved grandsons and their families.
Laura was loved by everyone who met her. She had a special relationship with her neighbours, and maintained those relationships even when they moved away. The Seymours (Andrea, Steve and their boys Sam and Nick.) held a special place in her heart and were considered part of her extended family. "Laurie's loss is felt in hearts across the miles"- Andrea Seymour
Laura was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband Ron. She is survived by her son Ron (Heather Kerr), daughter Angela Busby (Jim) and grandsons Neal Bailey (currently in Australia); Kris Busby (Heather Reeves) and Matt Busby of Winnipeg.
The family would like to thank the First Responders of the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service and the Winnipeg Police officers who attended with such care and compassion; and Nurse Erin Friesen Darragh and to Pastor Michael Kurtz of First Lutheran Church, for being there when most needed.
Cremation has already taken place. A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Laura will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.
Ease your grief, for she is not gone, for in your heart she lingers on. Her smile, her laugh, her special way, will comfort you from day to day. - Genie Graveli
