EXNER: Mervin Anthony Exner, long time resident of Brandon, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Born on March 26, 1954 in Melville, SK, Mervin was the third of seven children. He was raised on a farm north of the Qu'appelle Valley in Saskatchewan and moved to Brandon in the early 1970s. Mervin worked at Burns for 15 years until it closed, as a milkman for Exner Distributing and then at Home Hardware in hunting, fishing and sporting goods sales, until he retired in 2013. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, was a war history buff and owned several classic cars over the years. Mervin will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Ainslie and grandson Leven; mother Jen Exner; siblings Sharon McClean, Randy Exner, Carol Adams and Kevin Exner. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Not unlike Larry I too went to school with "A" in both Killaly and at St. Henry's. I also hung with him and his cousins on weekends back in the early 70s. He was a calm, kind and reserved individual who had a great sense of humour and the type of person this world needs a lot more of. Back in the day, "A" loved the band Badfinger and I expect that the 3 deceased members of the group played "Come and Get It" when they welcomed him home! My sincere condolences on your loss to Ainslie, Leven and the rest of Merv's family! - Posted by: Mervin Sapara (Friend) on: Apr 19, 2023

  • Our deepest sympathy to Ainslie, Leven and Merv’s family. I grew up with Merv or “A” as we called him, attending Killaly School and St. Henry’s High School in Melville together. I moved to Brandon in 1971 and Merv moved there shortly after. We worked together at Burns Foods and lived together until 1974. Merv was my best man when I married Patricia. Merv and I spent many days and hours together, hunting, fishing, curling and having a drink or two at the old Red Caboose. We will miss you buddy “A” ❤️ gone too soon! • Condolences to his daughter, grandson and family. Mervin or A as we called him was a great guy. We met in St. Henry’s High School, went to a lot of dances, parties and raced a lot of cars. When ever I we went to Brandon I would look him up. He will be missed. - Posted by: Howard Pankoski (Old friend) on: Nov 26, 2022
