DOROTHY LOUISE PREFONTAINE
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, Dorothy Louise Prefontaine, on November 16, 2022, at the age of 84.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Patrick, Lisa (Chris), Mark (Sandra), brother Robert Hamel, sister-in-law Flo, step-siblings, Marc Prefontaine (Andrea), Denis Prefontaine (Stephaine) grandchildren, Brett, Ashley, Madison and Matthew and brother-in-law Gordon Wilson (Marlene).
She was predeceased by her first husband David Wilson, second husband Victor Prefontaine and her brother Ron Hamel.
Dorothy had many interests. She was a member of a "girls club" (too many members to mention) which got together every couple of months for the past 53 years and counting. Mom also spent over a decade as an active member of the Lyncrest Flying Club. She often travelled to Oshkosh with the Lyncrest members. Mom enjoyed travelling to visit her cousin Joanne in Los Angeles. Mom was a season ticket holder of the Winnipeg Jets 1.0 and a fan of the present team. Many fond memories of past and present teams were shared.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Riverview Health Centre for their dedicated care and compassion towards Dorothy.
Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held at a later date.
Love you mom
With sad hearts we let you go.

To Dorothy's family - I know your dear Dorothy through my friendship with her cousin, Joanne. Joanne became my "second Mom" over 25 years ago. This means I've been blessed to see Dorothy every time she visited for many years. I will miss Dorothy's warm, genuine personality and infectious joy. May God bless you all. Dear Dorothy - You have been such an important part of my life. In early years our families spent many happy hours together. We were there through Lisa’s life threatening challenges and with you through the years as you continued giving her loving care. We were witnesses to the loving care Patrick, Mark, Vic and their families have had for you.. This of course was in recognition of the loving care you bestowed on them for many years, Rest In Peace dear friend. I am a dear friend of Joann Guenther, and through the many visits Dorothy made to California....we would always spend time together. She was the most delightful and wonderful spirit...and I am lucky to have known her!! - Posted by: Robert Kranc (Friend) on: Nov 26, 2022
