BARBARA JANE HIROSE

It is with heart-breaking sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Mom, Barbara Jane Hirose, on Friday, November 18, 2022.
Barb was predeceased by her brothers Bob and Ken, sister Shirley and nephew Shaun. She will be sadly missed by her children Jennifer, Krista, Kim, David and their spouses as well as her eight grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and friends whose lives she has touched so deeply.
Growing up Mom spent much of her childhood at the family cottage in Matlock and continued to enjoy it when she had her own family. She had a fulfilling career with the University of Manitoba Athletic Therapy Centre, however she was first and foremost a mom. She was truly the best, not only to her own kids but was one that other kids gravitated to for advice. She cherished all moments with friends and family whether it was trying new lunch spots with her friends, picnics with the grandkids or sharing holiday dinners with her family.

"Your life was a blessing,
your memory a treasure,
you are loved beyond words
and missed beyond measure"
We love you Mom, may you rest in peace.

As per Barb's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.
A special thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff at St. Boniface Hospital who took such good care of her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation.

  • So saddened to hear of “Barbie’s” passing. I have know “Barbie” since Grade 3. Our Dads worked together. Our friendship continued over the years and we always got together when we could. • My deepest condolences to Barb’s kids and grandkids. You were her world. I remember her excitement every time another grandchild (or two) was on the way. She cherished every single sleepover with them. She was a tremendous friend and always there when I needed her. I will miss our wonderful lunches all over the city (especially sharing those chocolate desserts), our Costco trips, running errands and always stopping at the convenience store to pick up her tea because that was the only place that always had it in stock, marathon phone calls and late night texting. Rest in peace my friend. I’m glad the hurt is over. Love you! - Posted by: Solange Lagassé (Friend) on: Nov 30, 2022
