PIERRE GEORGES JOSEPH PELLETIER
August 27, 1934 December 7, 2022
Pierre died at Victoria Hospital after a brief stay.
He was predeceased by his parents Ida (1972) and Alexis (1992), his brother Paul (2021) and his daughter Michèle (2018). He leaves his wife of 65 years, Suzanne (LaRivière) to whom he was devoted, his children, Marc, Louise (Gord) and Robert as well as his grandchildren, Pier-Andrée (Nathan), Manon (Steve), Nathan, Nicholas (Coco), Gabrielle, Elise, Patrick, Erik and great-grandchildren, Kai, Hailey, Carter, Alexcia, Annick, Maddison and Mateo. His sisters, Suzanne and Nicole (Dave) join his nieces, nephews and cousins in mourning his loss.
Kind, gentle, humble, selfless and above all, handsome was how most people described him. Pierre had a stubborn side but was quick to laugh, had a great sense of humour and enjoyed sarcasm. He was born in Manitoba but lived in Montreal for several years as a child. For the rest of his life, he stayed close to St. Boniface and got his education at Provencher School and Collège St. Boniface.
Pierre had a good work ethic and spent the bulk of his career with Manitoba Hydro (33 years) as a draftsman/surveyor. He was fortunate to be able to retire at the age of 55 and spent most of his retirement in good health (33 years). He and Suzanne especially enjoyed the time spent at the cottage he built in Beaconia, being in Mexico and Vancouver Island in the winters with their friends, and travelling throughout Canada and the U.S. They also visited several countries in Europe but the highlight was getting to Australia and New Zealand to see their granddaughter Pier and her family.
The staff (doctors, nurses, health care aides) from 5 North at Victoria Hospital as well as his primary care physician, Dr. Isabelle Paquin, are to be commended for their compassion and standard of care. Our father got excellent care and we are grateful for their support throughout.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coutu Funeral Home, located at 680 Archibald Street.
In memory of Pierre, donations can be made to the Pelletier Flaten Family Fund at The Winnipeg Foundation, 1350 One Lombard Place, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0X3. Tel. 204-944-9474, www.wpgfdn.org or a charity of your choice.

Sorry I am late to offer my condolences. I always admired Pierre as a good friend and trusty co worker while we worked at Manitoba Hydro. Every time I went to the Beaconia area. I would look for their cottage to say ‘hello’; but alas I couldn’t find it and hoped to find it next time. You should never wait. Rest in pease old Buddy. I was fortunate to meet this dapper gentleman who definitely made a lasting impression for me. I loved our walks, our conversations and he managed to skunk me at crib on several occasions. I will always remember how neatly dressed he was, how kind he was and his wonderful laugh to accompany his radiant smile. Salut Pierre! Tu me manqueras. As a compatriot and friend, never to be forgotten, it was with sadness and reflection as I read of Pierre's passing. We shared many favourable and interesting experiences over our working years together, and as with many others relied on Pierre's Surveyors knowledge and understanding. So long Pete.
