LORETTE DELAQUIS

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Lorette Delaquis (née Tarko), on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the Riverview Health Centre with her loved ones by her side.
Mourning her loss and cherishing her memory are her beloved children Gilles, Lynne (Randy), Norman (Rose), and Anna (Richard); her grandchildren Melissa, Justin, Joël, Christine and Danielle; her great-grandchildren Kaiden, Carter, Jonah, Brooklynne, Brysen, Malek, Hudson, Ava, and Leo; her siblings Muriel, Ronald and Normand; as well as countless relatives and friends that Mom considered her extended family.
Mom was predeceased by her dearest husband Henri, her parents Joseph and Hélène, and her sister Odette.
Mom was born in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes in 1935. It was in this small town that Mom pursued her teaching career and then married our Papa in 1955. Together they raised us four children in St. Norbert.
Mom was a well-respected and devoted teacher who loved educating the young. She retired in 1995 and embarked on her next phase of life which brought her joyfulness and fulfillment. Her passion for history and art piqued her interest. She had the good fortune to travel abroad experiencing different cultures with her lifelong friend, Renée.
Our mother was a strong independent woman who carried herself with poise and grace. She possessed a positive attitude and outlook that navigated her through life. Anyone who knew Mom appreciates the fact that when you met up with her your day was always brighter and happier. Mom was a "hip" 87 year old who had a real "Joie de Vivre'" spirit. She was our pillar of strength and our beacon of hope. Her concern was always focused on our wellbeing and she never hesitated to comfort us. She was gentle, loving and caring. Mom was a wonderful mother, a nurturing grandmother and a playful great-grandmother; we will miss her dearly. Her greatest contribution to life was sharing her generous spirit, zest for life and loving her family and friends with all her heart. Mom treasured her many friendships and she was so thankful for all the fun and laughter they shared together.
Mom was a woman of faith who prayed daily for all her loves ones and remained steadfast and true to her final days.
Our family gratefully thanks all the caring staff of Unit 3 East at the Riverview Health Centre for their dedication and compassion. We also express our appreciation to family and friends who have been and continue to be sources of tremendous support.
As expression of sympathy, if family and friends so wish, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
At Mom's request cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Mary Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, Winnipeg. A private interment will take place on Friday, December 30, 2022.

we love you mom!"

Bon courage. Marc & Claudette - Posted by: Marc & Claudette Delaquis (Friends) on: Dec 29, 2022

  • We are so very sorry for your loss. Your mom was always kind and friendly. She comforted our family during a very tragic loss of our brother Ray while we were living in St.Norbert. Your family was very lucky to have a patient beautiful mother . Your mom came to my dads funeral back on 2013. She looked and sounded exactly the same. It was so nice to see her. Our deepest condolences to the Delquis family. - Posted by: Irene Hochkevich (Gendron) (Neighbor from st.Norbert) on: Dec 26, 2022
