BERNARD CHARTIER
September 30, 1959 - December 5, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Bernard Chartier at the age of 63.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife Lucie (née Grégoire), his soul mate of 23 years; his brothers and sisters, Pierre (Irène Fillion), Jules (Suzanne Gratton), Louise (Léon Fillion), Henri, Michel (Gisèle Vielfaure), Aurel (Mona Parent), Monique (Chuck Kroeker), Laurette (Aurèle Houle), Raymond (Nicole Desautels), Joël, and several brothers and sisters-in-law of the Grégoire family, as well as over 100 nephews and nieces. Mononcle Ben was a favourite uncle.
Bernard was predeceased by his parents, Léopold and Florence (née Sorin); his sister Paulette; brother Father René; sisters-in-law, Marise (née LeBlanc) and Michelle (née Barnabé).
Bernard was raised and worked on the family farm in Ste. Agathe, Manitoba. He later moved to Lorette and began a career as a sheet metal worker for various companies. At home, he enjoyed working on small carpentry projects, keeping up to date on sports stats and doing puzzles. Bernard was a gentle giant, with a heart of gold. He will be remembered for his humble and caring personality. Being a jack of all trades, he was always willing to lend a hand whether it be fixing things at the Club Blé d'Or (local seniors club), helping build a garage for his brother or drywalling his nephew's cottage. He was an active member of the Chevaliers de Colomb with the Lorette council helping out as cook for the Sunday morning fundraising pancake breakfasts. He never wanted to be in the spotlight.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the paramedics and RCMP detachment who responded, for their professionalism and kindness. A big thank you also to neighbours and friends for their support through acts of kindness (phone calls, text messages, food and flowers).

"Bernard, you were the wind
beneath my wings.

• Our condolences on the loss of your amazing and kind husband ,Lucie. Rob and I were heartbroken to learn of Ben’s passing. We always enjoyed having you both out to the cottage over the years, and our friendly fishing competitions. He was indeed a gentle giant, who was always ready to help Rob with a project or offer up ideas on how to get a job done in the most affordable way. He was a quiet man with great depth and insight. When he spoke on a subject, you knew he had given it much thought first before offering his opinion. He clearly left an impression on our kids. They both have great memories of him and expressed what a “ salt of the earth” kind of guy he was. He will be missed. We mourn his passing and pray for all those who loved and miss him. - Posted by: Deborah Bonser (Friend) on: Dec 17, 2022
