• Sorry to hear the news of the sudden passing of Uncle Gord. I always remember the great pool parties the Barr family would host in the summer months. He was very generous with his time during those events. He always wanted to make sure that you were having a good time and well taken care of. I always looked forward to visiting in the summer. I also remember golfing with him at Kildonan Golf course once with Sheila I believe. He was very patient with me as I was just learning how to golf at the time. I think I was hitting the ball 50 yards at a time. That round of golf must have felt like an eternity to him. He was very gracious about my poor playing. I have known Gord during his years at Wal-Mart, and I am sure his handing out of Happy Face stickers and coupons will be remembered by most customers. Gord was always the go to person for updates on store information. He will be greatly missed. • I really enjoyed Gord's wit and humor when we would sit around the table in the lunch room. He was such a kind man, he always had a baby diaper coupon in his pocket ready to give a customer. • Dear Gordon was a first cousin on my fathers side. The oldest son of my auntie. We only say each other when young. But 7 years ago took up playing words with friends . Gordon was a brutal player, always a winner. it was fun reconnecting.. then one day a week ago Gordon was not playing which was unusual. I texted Gordon asking where he was and no answer until a week later received an email from his sister Janice that Gordon had passed away jan 12. We felt very upset as his age was very close to ours,we never got to know Gloria. Or his children but always kept in touch. He was the tallest person in the whole family.. reading his condolences certainly say how much he was loved and appreciated. May he rest in peace and meet up with brother Bruce… all our love to his family . Deepest heartfelt sympathy. • One of rivercrests finest. Played hockey together in his back yard and on old timers team. Will always remember his unique laugh pleasant and positive outlook. So many fond memories. • Gord was indeed a true gentleman meeting everyone with a smile and kind word. He was indeed a woven fibre of community. Though I never had the privilege of working with Gord at his first customs brokerage career he left a legacy. Much later in life his assistance in the Walmart baby area along with a kind comment, a wink, a smile always found a way to make a chore ‘a moment of brightness’. • I met Gord while out for a walk one day when I first moved into the community. We got to know each other and found that we had some common interests. We continued to meet up, and over the years became friends. Gore had many talents. Thankfully, memories of him will linger on into the future in the crafts that he created and mostly gave away. He got great pleasure from his crafting creations that he made on his jigsaw. I have some all over my yard, as do many neighbours. Thanks to Gord and his daily walks and bicycle rides around the community, anyone who needed to know what was new, could count on Gord for information. He was a true Guardian of the Community, and will be missed. I know that both Gloria and Jeff will miss him, as well as the rest of the family.
