JOSEPH LEQUIRE
Our dear Dad, Joseph Ellman Lequire, passed peacefully on January 24, 2023.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeannette (Stewart) Astleford and son Bryce, (Gweneth) Lequire and daughter-in-law, Gale Lequire. He is remembered with love by his surviving grandchildren, Joseph (Karyn), Nathaniel, Sarah (Kevin), Bryne (Kelly), Levi (Melissa) and her great-grandchildren, Adam, Maelle, Rune, Piper, Rowan and Adilynn.
Joseph was born in the rural community of Oakville, Manitoba January 31, 1931, the second oldest in a loving, warm, family with nine siblings.
He took his trade as a Pipefitter and worked all over Manitoba and Northern Ontario. He moved to BC to work and there met the love of his life, his late wife, Dorothy. They married in 1953 and had four children.
Dad was always an entrepreneur and launched various business ventures and ended up working in Real Estate. Along the way he was active in the Lions Club, coached hockey and baseball, played golf and curled, even dabbled in Auctioneering. Always an avid outdoorsman, he instilled in our family a love of nature and as a family we travelled and camped, fished, hunted and skied.
He was a loving husband, caring, involved Father and Grandfather, a great friend and mentor to his extended family and those friends he met and worked with throughout his life. He left his mark across the country working and living in Manitoba, Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick, British Columbia and once again returning to Winnipeg. His final years were spent surrounded by his family where he enjoyed wonderful times with his grand-kids and great-grand-kids.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, his son Stephen Lequire, his daughter Marjorie Logan and his grandson Matthew Lequire.
The family would like to thank the staff at Holy Family Home SC2 Ward for their excellent care and support.
Joseph will be cremated and the family will be holding a joint Celebration of Life for him and Dorothy this coming Spring.
