HEATHER RYMAN
December 28, 1948 - January 27, 2023

Heather Ryman passed away on January 27, 2023, at the Victoria General Hospital after a brief not yet diagnosed illness. It seems like an awful lot of pressure to write an obituary for a woman who was a devoted obituary reader (particularly with no diagnosis, she would be so mad!!).
Heather was predeceased by her husband, Fred (Tony), her parents, John and Betty McIntyre, and her fur-grandsons, Dozer and Rocky. Heather leaves to celebrate her life her children, Jennie (Kyle), Jonathan (Tracy) and Carrie (Dan), her grandchildren, Mia, Emmy and Freddy, her brothers, Angus and Robert McIntyre, her sister Anne McIntyre, her beloved dog, Tucker and her fur-grandchildren, Maverick and Goose.
Heather was born in 1948 in Toronto, and over the years lived in Windsor, in Australia from 1958 to 1963, in Vancouver and eventually finding home in Winnipeg.
Heather was a devoted nurse at the Health Sciences Centre Adult Emergency Room and Misericordia Health Centre for 36 years retiring to split her time being a snowbird in South Padre Island, Texas and spending time at their cabin on Lee River in Manitoba. Heather made many special friends through work, at the lake and in Texas. Mom was an "enthusiastic" golfer, loved playing dominoes (Mexican train of course) and games, travelling to hot places with Tony and friends, enjoyed cruising on the pontoon boat at the lake and taking long walks on the beach looking for sea glass with her late dogs, Kobe and Bennie. Mom's day could be easily made with a big hot cup of coffee or some chocolate ice cream.
When we were young, Mom was the fixer of boo-boos and as we got older, she was our constant medical advice and support. She was well known for her sense of humour and enthusiasm, especially while cheering us on at our many sporting activities. She was adventurous and loved exploring in nature and instilled that same love in her children. We have many memories and pictures of our travels with a pop-up trailer with our bikes or fishing rods and nets. We look forward to carrying on our travels and adventures in her memory. Love you Mom!
A Celebration of Life will take place between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This will be a come and go event, there will be no formal service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

  • Jenn, John and Carrie, we were so sorry to hear of Heather’s passing. We had an affectionate nickname for each other “Twinnie” we had so much fun time with Heather and Tony, be it golfing at VICC Brownsville, shellseeking on SPI, cruising, and lots of laughter over board games. I recall your Dad writing on our golf scorecard “Less Talk, More Golf” we were busy taking pics of the glory around us!
