HENK BOOY
October 17, 1931 - January 29, 2023

It is with sadness and yet with grateful hearts that we had the opportunity to be a part of Henk's life.
Henk passed away peacefully at Jocelyn House, Winnipeg, MB, on Sunday, January 29, 2023, with family by his side.
Henk is survived by his wife, Anne Benjamins-Booy, children, Nina (Bill), Henry (Cheryl), Martin, Ron (Heather) and Carol (Perry), five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Gerda, sister-in-law Henny and brother-in-law Harm, who live in The Netherlands, as well as many nieces and nephews living in The Netherlands and in Canada.
Henk was an adventurous, courageous man and a true servant of God.
Dad immigrated from The Netherlands with Anne in 1953 not knowing how to speak English, however he became fluent with the English language while working in factories in southern Ontario.
Varying careers were a part of his life, from being a sergeant in the Canadian Army, a salesman, a social worker, and a minister. He served as a minister with several Presbyterian and United Churches across Canada where he shared his passion of faith with others.
Dad pursued education and loved to broaden his knowledge base in all aspects of his life. He loved the outdoors, from camping to picnicking to fishing with his wife and family. He had a special knack with flowers and attracting birds to the feeders. Dad loved following the Winnipeg Jets hockey games.
His wife Anne was the love of his life. Family meant the world to Dad and his love, support and guidance will forever be cherished by all of us.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Young United Church, 222 Furby St., Winnipeg, MB, with Pastor Tim Crouch officiating. The service will be recorded. The link to the service will be posted on Henk's online obituary at http://birchwoodfuneralchapel.com when available.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Jocelyn House and Young United Church in Winnipeg.
