FERN PURSE

March 24, 1919 - January 31, 2023
Peacefully, Fern Purse passed away at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home.
Fern is predeceased by her husband George; mom Anne Riel; brothers, Dennis, John, Louis, and Ulysse; sisters, Betty, Marie, Terry; son-in-law John; and her loving puppy Ben.
Fern is survived by her sister Pat and family members Louis, Anita, Lily, Marco, Rose, Bianca, Bella, Vincenzo, Janet, Bob, Leona (Ted), Roger, Allen (Diane), L.J. Riel, Theresa, Marge, and Rob; grandchildren, Maureen, Sherri (Bruce), Melissa, Marilyn, Larry, Doug, and Kathy.
Fern was born in St. Vital and at 16 became a nurse at the Sann (St. Amant). She met her husband George and they married in 1946. In the same year, she went to collect Suzy in Toronto, who would become their daughter.
Most of her immediate family lived in Winnipeg where they would get together to celebrate special occasions. Fern was "old school". Her every day joy was being a homemaker. Fern had a love and great appreciation for life. She had acute hearing, vision, and an outstanding sense of humour until the end.
Suzy thanks all the nurses and caregivers at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home for the loving care they gave Fern every day.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Desjardins Funeral Home, 357 Des Meurons Street.
