MARY BRAUN
1928 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Braun (nee Nickel) on January 31, 2023, at the age of 94 years.
Left to mourn her passing are her daughter Sandra (Terry); son Ken (Lynda); grandchildren: Cheryl (Desmond), Kimberly (Chris), Samantha (Dorian), and Randy (Makayla) along with her great-grandchildren: Atlas, Ambrea, Daedric, Mira, Brielle, Charlie and Braxton as well as many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, Kay, Frieda, Eleanor and brother-in-law Ben and wife Monica. She was predeceased by her husband George, identical twin sister Annie, brother Frank and sister Aganetha.
Mary was born on March 3, 1928, in Neuendorf, Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1949 where she first settled in Steinbach and then moved to Winnipeg. Some of the things she loved were travelling, reading the bible, going to church, singing and needlepoint. Mary and George spent many years travelling between Hawaii, Mexico and Texas. She was also an accomplished seamstress, who impressed everyone with her creativity. Many nights were spent with her playing cards and dominoes with friends and family. Mary was a woman of grace and dignity. She had a quiet strength, was a hard worker, and will be in our memories and hearts forever.
Special thanks to her nephew Ernie for taking such good care of her since her husband George's passing and to the staff at Grace Hospital.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay. Interment in the Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9.

Our warmest sympathies for your loss. Even though we didn’t get to know your mom that well, the few short times we met, she was always very pleasant and eager for conversation. May you find peace and comfort knowing your mom touched so many hearts. She will missed by many. - Posted by: Keith and Hilda Schneider (Brother inlaw to Lynda and Ken) on: Feb 21, 2023
