STEPHAN (STEVE) GEMBARSKY
November 1, 1951 February 6, 2023
Peacefully in the early hours of Monday February 6, 2023, at the Saint Boniface Hospital, our dear Steve passed away at the age of 71 years.
Left to cherish Steve's memory are Wanda his beloved wife of 43 years, brothers Michael and Bohdan, and members of the Pawlowsky, Klopick and Laurin families.
His late parents, Mychaylo and Anna Gembarsky from Ukraine, met and married in Austria, where Stephan was born on November 1, 1951.
As a young man, Steve developed a passion for music of all genres, from classical to rock and roll. Music became a huge part of his life. He took up the guitar and the rest is history.
Steve composed music and shared his talents with fellow musicians and bands at various public events and venues. He also performed with the Rossdale Ukrainian dance group and was an alumnus of the Hoosli Ukrainian Male Chorus.
Steve's keen mind enabled him to engage in many insightful conversations about sports, politics, international affairs, and certainly music. He enjoyed photography, reading, and could keep those around him entertained with his sharp sense of humour and quick-witted one-liners.
Steve had a special bond with his brother Michael. They would assemble car model kits, go to Goldeye baseball games, and work together around the house. He also introduced Michael to photography and cycling.
Respecting Steve's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no service. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Steve and I attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School in the same classrooms from grades 5 to 9. We played on the baseball team, participated in school functions, raced our bikes around the neighbourhood. Steve was a part of my childhood at that time, and I am so sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to his wife and family, he was a great guy. May he rest in peace, God Bless. Vichnaya Pamyat. - Posted by: Stephen Fedun (Old Friend from the past.) on: Feb 22, 2023
