JOHN DONALD HINDS

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Donald Hinds.
John Donald passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital on March 3, 2023, at the age of 92.
Don was born at the Grace Hospital on February 13, 1931. Don was predeceased by his mother and father, George and Hermine Hinds, his mother-in-law Jo Coulter, his sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Donald Mackey and his sister-in-law Anne Coulter.
Don is survived by his wife Beryl; his brother Reid (Diane); his two sons, Rick, Dave (Diane); his two daughters, Cathy Couper (Rob), Karen Ellchuk (Trevor); seven grandchildren, Allison (Brennan), Bryon, Kyle, Carlee, Brendan, Tyler and Mathew; four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Chantel, Violet and Rosie; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his loving family.
Don celebrated his 64th wedding anniversary to his lovely wife on October 21, 2022. Don served in the Canadian Armed Forces (30 years, August 14, 1951 to November 26, 1981) and reserves (five years) before joining the Branch of Indian Affairs for an additional 12 years, finally retiring in 1998 at the young age of 67.
His hobbies included reading, playing cards, bowling and golf. He also enjoyed watching the Bombers (40 year season ticket holder), the Winnipeg Jets and all curling.
We would like to thank all the staff at the Grace General Hospital for the ongoing and generous care given to Don and special thank you to Dr. George.
A service in celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Grace Hospital or a charity of your choice.
