NELLIE LENA PITSANUK
(nee MAHYLIS)
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Nellie Lena Pitsanuk at the age of 99 years. Mom never made it to 100 but at 99, she was "Our Great One".
She will be greatly missed by her sons, Larry and Tim (Judy), and her grandchildren, Tara, Samantha (Shane), Lena and Michael, as well as by her many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Nellie was predeceased by her husband Michael and her siblings, Christine, Adeline, Billy and Mike.
Nellie's family was the most important part of her life. She loved everyone deeply and enjoyed cooking holiday dinners. Her Ukrainian Christmas Eve dinners were a favourite among her grandchildren. She loved having them in the kitchen with her and teaching them her favourite recipes. Up until her last days she cherished the quiet moments with her sons and grandchildren. Being a Grandma was her greatest joy.
She loved a good hamburger, playing cards and bingo, watching her soap operas and laughing. She had an infectious laugh that will be missed by all who were lucky to know her.
Thank you to the staff at St. Joseph's for taking such good care of Nellie and making her comfortable in her final days.
We love you Grandma, Mom, Auntie Nellie. We know you are watching us from
heaven and you are at peace now.
We miss you and will love you always.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard.
