ELIZABETH (BETTY) ALTON

On March 7, 2023, Betty suddenly but peacefully passed away at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 92.
Betty is survived by her son Gordon, daughter Patricia, her husband Dan Miller, daughter-in-law, Lidia of Calgary, her grandchildren, Ian, Kyle, Tyler (Kara), Matthew, Andrew and her great-grandchildren, Theo and Emilia.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Arnie in 2007, by her son Edward in 1957, her daughter Colleen in 1963, and her son Larry in 2004.
Betty was born in Peace River, Alberta in 1931, and grew up with her parents in Grimshaw, Alberta.
As a teenager, she moved to Edmonton where she attended Alberta College and graduated from a business course.
She met Arnie while working at C.N. Telegraphs and in 1953, they were married.
Betty and Arnie enjoyed 54 exciting and eventful years together and shared joys and sorrows.
They were fortunate to have been able to travel on many memorable trips to visit different parts of the world.
Betty loved and cherished her children and grandchildren dearly and they were an integral part of her life always keeping her busy and always on her toes.
In keeping with Betty's wishes, cremation and a private family interment of the ashes will be held.
We want to thank Doctors Mason and Hayakawa of CancerCare for extending Betty's life and also to Dr. J. Werrier for his care and support through the years.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bettys name may be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation.

A time that surely shall come;
In heaven itself I'll ask no more
Than just a Highland Welcome"

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I will miss Betty very much and send sincere care and condolences to Pat and Gord and their families. Betty was a bright, resilient woman who I think was able to overcome so much in her life due to the love she had for her family. Cheers Mrs. A! I was so fortunate to have your friendship, enjoy your humour and kindness, and, like many others, be welcomed into your homes for so many years. Rest easy now. What better legacy than to have made the world a better place. - Posted by: Karen Price (Friend) on: Mar 26, 2023
