KLARA (RUZA) GUBIC


Klara (Ruza) Gubic (nee Bagaric) formerly of Winnipeg, Manitoba peacefully passed from this life into the loving arms of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the age of 90 years.


"…and I will dwell in the house of the
Lord forever" Psalm 23:6


Klara is survived by her loving family: children: Vladimir (Lorraine), Mary (Ron), Rose (Darren), Joe (Beth); grandchildren: Lee (Janine), Ryan (Vicki), Tyler (Lindsey), Holly (Justin), Anastasia (Riley), Brandi (Ryan), Makena, Danica, Grace (Peter), Emily, Liam, Lola, Addison, and Beno; great-grandchildren: Casper, Ellie, Catie, and Alex.
She was predeceased by: her first born son; son-in-law Bruce; her husband Vinko; and close family in Croatia.
Klara was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina of Croatian descent. She immigrated to Canada with her late husband, Vinko, and their son in 1962. They settled in Winnipeg until Vinko's passing in 2016. She was married to Vinko for 62 years. While living in Croatia, she worked on both livestock and crop farms while maintaining a home and family. Before immigrating to Canada Klara and her family lived in Italy in a refugee camp where she worked in the kitchen. After settling in Winnipeg, she worked as a seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and sewing. Her family were always the grateful recipients of the fruits of her labor. One of her favourite pastimes was going to the cottage at Winnipeg Beach with her cherished husband, and family.
In 2017 she moved to Gibbons, Alberta to be closer to her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kipnes Centre for Veterans in Edmonton, Alberta for their care and compassion.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2023 with viewing at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Tavelich Roman Catholic Church, 2688 Main St., Winnipeg with Father Peter Nemcek as Celebrant. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
