Every time we thought of you
The world would be so dark
The night a gloomy hue.
If a leaf fell from a tree
Every time we wished you near
The forest would be bare
And winter all the year.

Each time we ached for you
The land would be so quiet
Pleasures would be few.
But none of this is so
The world keeps turning round
And though you're gone from sight
