Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDENISE MARIE BLANCHE JOHNS
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Denise Marie Blanche Johns, on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the Peter Loughead Centre in Calgary, Alberta.
Denise will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Diana Kashuba, son Michael (Vanessa), and her grandchildren, Nicholas, Aiden, Mason, Kaydence, Kaylee, Addison, and Zachary as well as her former son-in- law Chad Kashuba.
Prior to the decline of her health in 2011, Mom enjoyed her retirement by taking weekend trips to Grand Forks and Fargo with her daughter, sushi dates with friends, and spending time with her grandsons. In November of 2020, Denise made the decision to say farewell to Winnipeg, and live the remainder of her years with her son and his family in Calgary. Although she hadn’t lived in Calgary for very long, Mom was able to reconnect with her son, strengthen her relationship with her daughter-in-law Vanessa, and make memories with her granddaughters and her special boy Zachary.
Denise was predeceased by her husband Wes Johns in February of 2010, sister Jeannette Godin in August of 2017, her father Marcel Godin in September of 2000, brother Roger Godin in June of 1999, and her mother Jeanne D’Arc Godin in June of 1975.
We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the doctors, nurses, and other staff of Units 38 and 42 at the Peter Loughead Centre in Calgary, Alberta for their kindness and compassion during Denise’s last days.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday May 5, 2023, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin Street.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1379 Kenaston Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5.

Diana, Michael and families, we were so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. While we haven't seen her in the last few years, whenever we had family get togethers it was always a lot of fun. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. - Posted by: Jacques and Susan Lemoine (Cousin) on: Apr 29, 2023

Always so welcoming, always smiling, pride beamed when she witnessed the talent of her kids and grandkids. I enjoyed every story, told with perfect comedic timing. Sending condolences to her loved ones in this difficult time. - Posted by: Braxton (Friend of family) on: Apr 29, 2023

We were so saddened to hear of Denise's passing. Brenda grew up with Denise on Airlies Street and she was in our wedding party many years ago now. She had a great sense of humour and was a good friend. Although we didn't connect often recently, it was just like old times every time we did. Rest in peace dear friend you will greatly be missed. - Posted by: Brenda and Augie Cabral (Friends) on: Apr 29, 2023
