NORMA SHARON FLETT

(SPENCE)

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Sharon, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Norma Sharon Flett, age 87, passed away peacefully April 26, 2023, with her family by her side.

Sharon was born February 25, 1936 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to parents Tom and Hazel Spence. She was the youngest of three children.

She was predeceased by her parents Tom and Hazel Spence, her brother Blake Spence and Sister Shirley Beairsto.

Sharon leaves behind her four children, Gloria (Reggie), Gail (Myron), Jim (Gail), Kevin (Rachel), eight grandchildren Tanya, Jason, James, Michelle, Colleen, John, Ethan, Benjamin and 14 great-grandchildren.

Sharon was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She treasured her children and grandchildren embracing every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma. Always there for the grandkids giving them her time. Mom spent many hours watching the kids play hockey games and attended other events. She had a friendly personality and always made people around her smile.

Mom grew up in Sunny St. James and attended St. James Collegiate in the 50's where she learnt to be a bookkeeper/accountant. She brought her vast knowledge and skill to many firms over the years.

She was an avid bowler, bowling in several 5 pin leagues throughout her lifetime being a league champion and top scorer in most of them.

Sharon loved to be around family and friends never turning down an invitation to get together. Mom was also a knitting machine always making custom sweaters and slippers for the family and friends, Many referred to her as the Bomber sweater lady. Her hands were rarely still with out knitting needles blazing.

She was a kind and loving person and will be dearly missed and always in our hearts.

There will be a Celebration of her Life held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.

Donations can be made in her honour to CancerCare Manitoba or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

  • Condolences to Gail, Gloria, Kevin, Jimmy and their families! I met Sharon in the late seventies and we soon became best friends, sometimes laughingly referring to be joined at the hip. We spent many summers together with our children, camping, fishing or having picnics in the park. Sharon had a huge heart that was full of love, compassion and an understanding for all. If you called on her for help she was at your door before you put the phone down. My heart hurts that she has left us in the physical world but I know she is at peace in the spiritual world. Rest in peace my friend, you will always have a special place in our hearts! Darlene, Wanda Darren, Kim Rob, Billie Jo Todd and their families! - Posted by: Darlene Johnson (Friends) on: Apr 29, 2023

  • I was very sad to read about Sharon's passing. Although I had lost touch with her in the past year or two, I remember our many years together bowling, having picnics in the park or backyard parties. She was a very nice lady and always made our gatherings fun. She often talked about her family and my deepest condolences go out to them at this time. - Posted by: Lorraine (Friend) on: Apr 29, 2023
