Hilda Nellie Weber (Caswell) passed away on December 13, 2022 at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg at the age of 97.
She was predeceased by her husband Tom in 2003; her parents, Alec and Lily and her brother Earle. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her son Bryan (Carol) Weber of Winnipeg; daughters, Pamela (Robert) Caswill of Nova Scotia and Wendy (Michael) Cull of The Pas; grandchildren, Rachel DePaulo, Andrew (Jeannine) Cull, Stephen Cull and Christie (Nico) Cull; step-grandchildren, Christopher (Jackie) Caswill and Melissa (Matt) Brett; five great-grandchildren and nieces, Diana (Don) Johnston and Donna Cronmiller.
Mom was born on June 3, 1925 in Melita and remained fiercely proud of her “prairie roots”. While she travelled often, she proclaimed that nothing compared to the wide-open spaces of Manitoba. After graduating from Melita High School in 1943, Mom moved into Winnipeg to attend Dominion Business College. She graduated at the top of her class and was selected to work in the Drainage Branch of Provincial Public Works where she met a young Engineer, Tom Weber, and they were married on May 6, 1950. Mom and Dad were very active in their local church and community. They were charter members of Silver Heights United Church and Mom became a life member of the UCW in 1975. She worked for the City of St. James for almost 20 years, primarily in the Civic Centre Pool office. Mom also served on the Executive of the Professional Engineers’ Wives Association, was a Blue Bomber season ticket holder for over 50 years, a great fan of the Winnipeg Goldeyes, and enjoyed Curling Bonspiels at all levels. Mom especially loved the times she spent with family and friends and was always the first to volunteer to organize any sort of social event. She will be remembered for her ready smile and hearty laugh.
Interment has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held for Mom on June 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or a charity of one’s choice.

Hilda's parents, Alec and Lily were very good friends of my parents Agnes and Gideon Moore of Melita Man. We visited back and forth and when Hilda came home for visits. My sincerest condolences to all the family. - Posted by: Marcia Casemore (Moore) (old friends of the family) on: May 20, 2023
