LOIS JEAN CHANDLER

January 24, 1931 - May 7, 2023

Lois was born in 1931 in Carberry, Manitoba.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, Annie and Albert Chandler.

Lois was educated at Carberry School until grade 8 and then moved to Winnipeg with her parents and finished her education in Winnipeg with secretarial business education at Dominion Business College. Lois worked for 17 years for Canada Cement Company, and then at various office jobs until her retirement from the Provincial Government, Culture, Heritage and Citizenship.

Her many dogs over the years gave her much pleasure and companionship on their many long hikes together and in the last years her dear cat.

Her years spent living at the Westhaven Retirement Living were among the happiest and she valued all the great friendships made there.

As per Lois’s wishes, she has been cremated and no formal funeral service will take place.

If friends desire, a memorial donation may be made in Lois’s memory to Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 12-2727 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0R2, D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Centre, 730 Century Street B, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0M1.

When I come to the end of the road

And the sun has set for me

I want no rites in a gloom filled room.

Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little - but not too long

And not with your head bowed low.

Remember the love we once shared,

Miss me - but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take,

And each must go alone.

It’s all a part of the Master’s plan,

A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart,

Go to the friends we know

And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
