GERTRUDE JOAN VOGAN
Gertrude Joan Vogan (nee More) died peacefully Sunday, May 28 with family at her side.
Predeceased by her husband Willson and their youngest child, John, Gert is survived by her son, Eric (Jill) and her daughter, Caroline.
She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; granddaughter, Jane Heim and her family (James, Evelyn and Willow); grandson John Vogan and his family (Maddie and Otto Willson); granddaughter Leanne Ranford and her family, (Stuart, Max and Ethan) and grandson Alec. She is also survived by her younger sister, Dorothy-Ann Cole; her children, Doug Cole, Tricia Cole and their families.
Gertrude More was born in Winnipeg, but her parents’ adventures took them first to Lac du Bonnet and then to Flin Flon in 1938. She came back down to Winnipeg to attend secondary school at Riverbend and United College. It was there that the ‘leggy blonde’ met Willson Vogan. They were married in 1951 and together they raised their family in Fort Garry.
Gert was a dedicated mother, volunteer and adventurer. She was a full partner in camping expeditions to Vancouver, Montreal, New York and Washington, DC. Once they had the kids under control, they got to enjoy some serious intercontinental travelling. Trips on which they were accompanied by their grandchildren produced some legendary tales. Time with the family at Gull Lake was very special to Mom. We all hold treasured memories of our time with Mom and Dad at the lake.
The family would like to thank the staff at Poseidon Care Centre for their dedicated care during Mom’s time there.
The family will celebrate her life in a private service. E.J. Coutu will be taking care of final arrangements.
