ELIZABETH SANSOM

December 15, 1948 – June 8, 2023

Elizabeth-Ann (Betty) Sansom, age 74, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023, at Golden Links Lodge Personal Care Home. Betty was born on December 15, 1948, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Estelle Skronek; sister Patricia Skronek; and parents-in-law, Ruben and Susan Sansom.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband James and daughter Keri Sansom; her brother Robert Skronek; and brother-in-law Robert Sansom. She will also be sadly missed by many relatives and friends in both Manitoba and British Columbia.

Betty spent her work life at various places such as Hudson Bay, Lakeview Properties, and various insurance agencies until her retirement in January of 2009. After retirement she spent her time with the Southdale Seniors group, and Seniors Zumba, and also volunteered for various charities.

In 2020 Betty began to battle dementia, and we are thankful for the many people who helped us navigate her three-year battle. The staff at Riverview day hospital. Nicole and Nelisa who were her home care ladies - a huge shout out to them both who took fabulous care of her, and treating us all like family. Finally, a huge thank you to the staff at Golden Links Lodge for making her so comfortable during her time there, especially in her last few days. Even though she was there a short time, the compassion and care they showed to her and us has been forever imprinted in our hearts.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A small graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Betty can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or to CancerCare Manitoba.
