STELLA SCIBERRAS

In the early morning of June 23, 2023, Mom passed away peacefully in presence of her children at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 97.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son Lloyd Sciberras and his daughter Tamara Sciberras, daughter Brenda Sciberras (Dave Elias) and her three daughters, Rheanna Marshall Olson (Robert), Jessica Hale (Matthew), Alyssa Scott (Desmond); seven great-grandchildren, Alex and Kaden Hale, Marnie, Corbin and Everett Scott and Norah and Charlotte Olson. Also mourning her loss are her sisters, Anne Faykes and Sonya Meneer (Wayne), brother Jack Prokipchuk, sister-in-law Irene Prokipchuk, brother-in-law Charles Sciberras and sister-in-law Janet Sciberras. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Stella was predeceased by her husband Fredric in 2009, her parents, Lena and Dmytro Prokipchuk, her brothers, Bill, Vincent, Walter and John.
Stella was born in Teulon, MB on June 1, 1926, and grew up in Vita, MB. When she first came to the city she worked at Canada Packers and then Canada Safeway, retiring in 1986 after 33 years. Mom and Dad were married 47 years before his passing and together they built their country home outside of Dugald, MB in 1963. Mom spent the last 10 years living independently on the 3rd floor of the Kildonan Green apartments. Stella was quick to make friends and truly enjoyed their company.
Thank you to Dr. Yasmin Nadeem for taking excellent care of Mom, and staff on 6A South, St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and kindness toward Mom during her stay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Ostomy Association, 204-825 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5 or a charity of your choice.
In keeping with Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home Monday, July 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.

  • Hello. My name is Marlene Pomarenski, I was your mom's homecare nurse six years ago. I enjoyed your mom so much, a beautiful smile and many delightful stories. When I turned 60, I hosted a High Tea and your mom lent me a vintage hair pin that I held my facinator on to my head. A beautiful soul. - Posted by: Marlene Pomarenski (Retired home care nurse) on: Jul 01, 2023
