SIMONE FREI
Simone Frei passed away peacefully on August 30 at the age of 65 years.
She leaves to mourn her daughter Christine, mother Irene Landreville, brother Rene (Gisele), sister Terry (Harold), brother Paul (Julie), sister Diane, brother Gerry (Greg), brother Norman (Mindy), brother-in-law Albert Gofflot, and sister-in-law Flo Landreville. She has also left behind her aunt Terry Vielfaure, Aunt Lorraine Penner, many friends including Mona Leduc and Debbie Holland, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews whom she cherished.
Simone was predeceased by her husband Jack, father Prosper, brother Donald, sister Lorraine and little brother baby Eddie.
Simone lost her battle to Cancer after being diagnosed in 2021, with ocular melanoma, a very rare form of cancer in the eye. In March 2022, Simone set out for Toronto to take part in a clinical trial with a new groundbreaking cancer treatment called Tebentafusp. It was under the direction and guidance of Dr. Marcus Butler and his large team, at the Princess Margaret Hospital that Simone was able to gain quality time to spend with family and friends. She would like to thank everyone who helped her in Toronto including the nurses on the 18th floor and chemo room, the scientists and research team and those behind the scenes. She will be forever grateful.
Simone and her family would further like to thank Dr. Ralph Wong, Dr. Arbind Aubey and Dr. Sachs Rehsia. Dr. Wong and Simone fought to bring groundbreaking Tebentafusp to CancerCare in Winnipeg for others who could benefit from the treatment. This would eliminate the travelling back and forth to Toronto. Simone would like to give a special thank you to the nurses, doctors and others who helped her in her journey at CancerCare Manitoba. She is incredibly grateful we have such world-class facilities with amazing staff at CancerCare. She also would like to thank those she worked with at the Misericordia Hospital and the Buhler Eye Care Centre, including Dr. Mathen, Dr. Bellan, and Dr. Andrew Mis. She spent the last of her days at The Courtyards at Linden Pointe and would like to thank the staff there for their excellent care.
As per Simone’s final wishes, no funeral will be held. Simone will be inurned at a later date at the St. Boniface Cemetery. A private family, relatives and friends gathering will take place.
In lieu of flowers, Simone requests a donation to CancerCare Manitoba for research for Melanoma. She asks that everyone sign their donor cards and ensure your family knows your wishes.

So sorry to hear about Simone. Even though I had only known Simone for a short time, we enjoyed our visits, texting and our Christmas card sending. She was so proud of her taking part in the Cancer trials. Both Blake and I will miss her. Thinking of her family during this sad time. - Posted by: Tamera and Blake Bell (Simone’s Realtor and friends) on: Sep 11, 2023
