ESTHER KOTULAS

It is with profound sadness the family announces the sudden death of our cherished daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Esther on October 3, 2023 at the age of 48.

Esther is survived by her mother, Antonia; brother, Daniel; nephew, Oliver and niece, Brooke; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her father, Gideon (2018) and sister-in-law, Amanda (2022).

Family and friends meant everything to Esther. She was affectionately known as Lea to Oliver and Brooke and she could always be counted on, in a moments notice, to help find some obscure item on-line, provide a ride or a pick-up or plan a get-together. She was always known as the ‘fun auntie’ to numerous adopted nieces and nephews, outside of her family, making each of them feel special. She touched the life of everyone she met.

Esther’s bubbly personality and eagerness to help people made her a perfect fit in her career at RBC for over 20 years. She always said that she liked her job, but especially enjoyed working with her co-workers and staff, and the friendships that were made.

As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Esther appreciated the need to share her Bible-based hope for the future with everyone she met, especially in the deaf community. For over 30 years, Esther became proficient in ASL (American Sign Language) and was always looking for new ways to express herself in that language. She looked forward to the coming resurrection promised in the very near future. (Rev. 21:4)

A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall Centre of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 227 Lakewood Boulevard, on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. (CST) . If you wish to attend the Zoom memorial, please email Dan.kotulas@icloud.com to request login information.

The family requests that friends visit Esther Kotulas' tribute wall at bardal.ca where condolences, photos and stories may be placed for all to see.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I can not believe that Esther has passed away and am still in shock. I didn't work with her directly but we spoke frequently nonetheless. In fact, she gave me tips and offered advice when I was selected as one of the Performance Cruise recipients as well as helped me to navigate the registration process. She was almost as excited as I was about the whole thing! Esther was always ready and willing to come to my assistance whenever I needed help with anything. I had great respect for her as a manager but what I remember most is her lovely smile and infectious personality. My heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones as you grieve her loss during this very sad time. - Posted by: Angela A. (RBC Contact Centre (retired)) on: Oct 22, 2023

  • I am shocked and saddened to come across Esther’s obituary! I was one of ‘Esther’s Jesters’ at RBC back in 2003. She was a fantastic team leader! I only worked with her for a short time, but always remembered her as a very bubbly and friendly person. I felt lucky to be on her team. She was such a nice person, always positive and encouraging. I am not surprised to read about what a beautiful person she was. My sincerest condolences to her loved ones. 💕 - Posted by: Tracy H. (Former staff at RBC call Center. ) on: Oct 21, 2023
