Cliff passed away, peacefully, at his care residence, after a day enjoying visits from his children and grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by Rilla, his loving wife of 65 years, in 2014. With his last words, “I am going to meet my Creator”, we had no doubt mom would be the first one waiting for him as he went ‘home’ to be with Jesus.
Dad is survived by his daughter Jo-Anne (Ian) Seymour, and sons, Kevin, and Scott (Susan) Lougheed as well as grandchildren, Andrew (Andrea) Seymour, Patrick Seymour, and Katie (Konrad) Krahn; Christopher, Nicholas and Caroline Lougheed; and Laura (Adam) Fanset, Darryl (Lindsay) Lougheed, and Paige Lougheed; and eight great-grandchildren. Also fondly remembered by Sandi Lougheed.
Dad was predeceased by his wife, Aurilla, his parents, Oliver and Maud Lougheed, and both sisters, Olive and Connie. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews with great memories of “Uncle Spud”.
Cliff met Rilla Barnes on a lunch break from his first job with the Royal Bank in Birtle, MB. After a lot of convincing on dad’s part, they were married on June 15, 1949.
Dad, born in Foxwarren, Manitoba, came from a humble family experiencing hard times, but he still had a lot of fun growing up. He often recalled his teenage hockey exploits, as goalie on the Foxwarren team, winning the 1945 and ’48 Junior B Championships. Dad, self-taught, played drums in a band, traveling many miles to places like Wasagaming’s Danceland to play all night for $5.00. Despite late nights and hockey trips, he graduated Grade 12 with Honours. Upon graduation, dad joined the Royal Bank, where he had an accomplished and distinguished career, respected by his peers and customers alike. Supported whole-heartedly by Rilla, Dad took early retirement at age 59 to fulfil his dream of starting his own business in mergers and acquisitions.
Dad was not all work. He and mom travelled to Hawaii, the UK, eastern and western seaboards, many parts of the USA and Canada, often with family and close friends.
Grandpa Lougheed was greatly loved by all the family, and we shall miss him very much.
We are grateful to the staff at the Arbours, Brightwater Linden Pointe. Cliff was one of their favourite residents, and their care and compassion helped him, and us, through his last days.

I was saddened to have just learned of Mr. Lougheed's passing. He was a family friend and fellow church member with my parents. Perhaps most significantly he was my reference to join Royal Bank when I graduated University. Like him I then spent my entire career there. No doubt he will be missed.
