Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNADZIEJA MONACO
It is with heavy hearts we announce passing of our mother into the loving hands of our heavenly father on January 11, 2024.
She was predeceased by her parents, Michal and Maria Kowalczyk, sisters, Stefania, Olga and Anna, and her former husband, Joe Monaco, of 35 years.
Mom leaves to mourn and rejoice with good memories her children, Elizabeth (Scott), Michael (Kristi); her cherished grandchildren, Ashley (Rey) and Tyler (Brittany) and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Eliana, and Reyden. Who visited with mom on her 80th birthday and left her with a beautiful sparkle and smile. A treasured memory.
Her memory will be kept alive by many nieces, nephews, cousins and her longtime friend and companion Bogdan.
Nadia was born in Dobra, Povit Sianik, Western Ukraine. Her family was forced to relocate to Poland in 1947. Nadia was a strong, self-sufficient woman. Her beautiful singing voice was often heard at mass and wherever singing was welcomed. Mom was always fashionably dressed. She loved ballroom dancing. Her favourite pastime was mushroom picking. Many years ago, she went missing while mushroom picking in Belaire Forest for three days and to everyone’s surprise she survived walking out hardly effected. She retired from Red River Packaging after 27 years. The last two years she resided at Holy Family Nursing Home. When in better health she loved to travel and visit casinos. She was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Holy Family (St. Lukes) for her exceptional care.
Prayers will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St., Winnipeg, Manitoba. Divine Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. celebrated at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue with Father Isidore officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, or Holy Family Nursing Home.
For those unable to attend, the Divine Liturgy will be live-streamed and recorded through the Korban Funeral Chapel Facebook page, www.facebook.com/korbanchapel.
