It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter Stachnyk on July 22, 2024, at the age of 93 at the Grace Hospital.
He is survived by his loving wife Catherine of 62 years. He leaves to mourn his passing, brother Walter, sisters Doris (Bill), and Ollie, brother-in-law John (Marlene), sister-in-law Marie, god-daughter Laurie (Grant) and grand-nephews Kolby and Rogan. Peter will also be missed by many surviving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Peter was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Anna Stachnyk, brothers Leon, Myron, sister Nettie, niece Laura and brother-in-law Lynn.
In accordance with Peter’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral.

Peter will be sadly missed by all of his friends and colleagues at the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba (MTAM). When we last spoke, he expressed how proud he was that the professional association he created in 1973 had grown to the amazing group it is today and recently celebrated it's 50th anniversary! We loved seeing him each year at MTAM's annual awards dinner and hearing the stories he shared - how he started in massage therapy during his time as a barber and how we almost achieved regulation in the early 1980's. Manitoba RMTs owe much to Peter's vision and dedication to the massage therapy profession. We hope that his dream and hope for the profession to become regulated in Manitoba will come true soon as we continue his work.
