RON MAURER

December 3, 1958-September 2, 2024

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart, I announce the passing of my beloved husband and best friend of 29 years, Ron Maurer. Ron's presence will be deeply missed by all that knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Ron was a devoted, loyal, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, and friend.

Despite facing health challenges, Ron's determination and spirit remained strong, fueled by his devotion to his family and his love of life. He is survived by his cherished wife Linda; his children, Wesley, Jordan (Cecilia), and Meghan (Paul), and his five precious grandchildren, Francesco, Matteo, Stefano, Elizabeth, and Ben. He is also mourned by his brothers, Karl and Mike, his sister Ilona (Barry), brother-in-law John (Deanne), and sister-in-law Dianne (Shaun). Ron’s memory will remain in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews, particularly his special bond with his nephew Mike Peters.

Ron found boundless joy in his grandchildren, who filled his life with a vibrant array of love and happiness. He treasured every visit and was deeply loved in return by his grandkids. Ron’s passions included golfing, gardening, travel, hot rods and fast cars, long walks, especially as the enthusiastic “Sherpa” on countless hikes with the love of his life. Ron was a long-time member of the MSRA. He was dedicated to living his dreams fully, and he and Linda created many unforgettable memories during their travels to Germany, Scotland, England, Mexico, Nova Scotia, and their retirement home in Palm Springs.

Ron enjoyed his many late night garage parties, firepits with longtime East St. Paul neighbours and it was not uncommon to find Linda and Ron dancing the night away. Linda will deeply miss her dance partner, with whom she shared countless spontaneous dances in the kitchen, garage, and on the deck. These magical moments of joy and connection were a testament to their profound love and companionship. Ron’s absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit will forever dance alongside her in the memories they created together.

Ron’s entrepreneurial nature led to him running several small businesses and his career excelled in the world of marketing. Ron was deeply committed to his community, dedicating his time and energy to various causes. He volunteered as a hockey coach and served as an active board member for BOMA and the Professional Property Management Association (PPMA), including organizing the charity golf tournament for many years. His philanthropic spirit extended to Habitat for Humanity, where he contributed to building homes for those in need and supported fundraising events. Although Ron received numerous awards and recognitions over the years, his motivation was never about accolades. He was driven by a genuine passion for making the world a better place for everyone. And that he did.

Our hearts are full of all the love and support from family and friends during Ron's journey with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). A most heartfelt thank you goes to Dr. Kevin Brown, the Cancer Team, and the D6 team at Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care during Ron’s courageous battle.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to donate blood to the Canadian Blood Services in Ron’s memory if you are able.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in accordance with Ron’s wishes at Rossmere Golf and Country Club in the coming weeks.

  • To Linda and family. So sorry to hear about Ron's passing. Please accept our deepest condolences. We had known Ron casually before we met you at Jordan's and our Scott's Southdale hockey games. Will remember when we met him at Brainerd for the first time in 1992 and the many car shows after that with our common friends Bruce and Sheri Thomson. May he rest in eternal peace and you seek comfort knowing he is in no more pain and in the love you shared. Be well. - Posted by: Allan and Emily Bedard (Friend/acquaintance) on: Sep 10, 2024
