GORDON NEAL JOHNSON

June 4, 1974 - September 13, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Johnson, a devoted husband, loving father, and dedicated community volunteer, who left us peacefully on September 13, 2024, at the age of 50 after a brave battle with cancer.

Gord is survived by his loving wife, Amanda; their three children, Hanna, Riley, and Brent, who were his greatest joys and sources of pride. He instilled in them the values of hard work, kindness, and community service. He is also survived by his parents, Tom and Maureen Johnson; brothers, Mark (Kristina) Johnson and Jamie (Sandra) Johnson; mother-in-law Lorna Hordal; sisters-in-law, Deanna (Justin) Cooper and Kara (Justin) Crockatt; brother-in-law Ryan (Melissa) Hordal and a close-knit family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will carry his spirit in their hearts.

Gord was predeceased by his father-in-law Randy Hordal.

Born on June 4, 1974, in Winnipeg, MB, Gord spent his life working the land he loved, embodying the values of hard work and perseverance. He took immense pride in his farm where he nurtured crops, cattle and relationships with his family, friends, and neighbours. Gord’s commitment to service extended beyond the farm; he was actively involved in local organizations and initiatives, always ready to lend a hand. He spent many hours at the rink, sharing his enthusiasm for the sport of hockey with friends and family, playing the sport, coaching local teams, and being President of the Lundar Falcons Junior B team for 10 years. During his free time, Gord enjoyed vacationing with his family and many outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing with family and friends.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors and healthcare professionals who helped Gord over the past year. A special thank you to Doctor Dawe at CancerCare Manitoba and Doctor Tinguely at Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, ND.

A Celebration of Gord’s life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on October 5, 2024, at the Lundar Curling Rink with Cindy Thorkelson officiating. A luncheon will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lundar Grettir Co-op Inc., PO Box 334, Lundar, MB R0C 1Y0, a cause Gord passionately supported.

Gord’s spirit will live on in the fields he tended and the hearts of those who loved him. He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
