Kathy passed peacefully at the Selkirk General Hospital on September 24, 2024.
She was predeceased by husband Brian, father Tony, her grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
She is survived by her mother Mary, brother Rick, sister-in-law Carrielynn, Brian's children, aunt and cousins, and her friend Debi Peary who drove her for chemo and stayed with her until she felt better after her treatments.
Kathy attended Springfield Heights, Chief Peguis and River East School. She took commercial baking at R.R.C.C.
Kathy worked at Super Value and was a cake decorator at Costco.
Kathy loved pets. She had a rabbit, dog and many cats.
After retirement Brian and Kathy spent the winters in Florida. They would leave Boxing Day and come back in May. Brian didn’t want to see snow. Kathy would phone and say it’s 30° today. I would tell her it’s 30° in Manitoba too. Brian and Kathy travelled and saw many different places.
They moved to Sandy Hook, their happy place. Brian loved to build, and he built. Kathy loved to plant, and plant she did.
Kathy collected light houses, octopus, and giraffes. She was also a garage sale queen and knew where the best sales were, and knew what items would make a good planter if you put a few hooks in the bottom.
Thank you to all the doctors and nurses whom she said were very good to her. Also, a big thank you to her friends and neighbours who looked out for her and were so good to her.
Kathy was married at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Parish and it’s only fitting her last service be at St. Anne.
Funeral services to be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Parish, 35 Marcie Street, Winnipeg MB. Lunch to follow with interment in Holy Family Cemetery.

My deepest condolences to Kathy’s family. I was heartbroken to hear of Kathy’s passing. She was truly a genuine fun loving person and awesome to work with. We worked together at Superstore and Costco. We decorated many cakes together. She always made my work day and awesome fun day. I will always remember her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and will be remembered always. - Posted by: Diane Mercer (Former co-worker from superstore and Costco ) on: Oct 07, 2024
