John and I worked together for years at the CGC. He was easy to get to know and you always knew where you stood with John. He was very funny and he was on the QMS team that I oversaw and I was lucky to travel and do audits with John on a number of occasions. One trip we went up to Prince Rupert and the next thing I knew I was on a boat with no seats sitting in a lawn chair, fishing for crabs and drinking straight rum! In the pouring rain. John always knew the best places to go for lunch and I was lucky to go with him on a number of occasions. He was a person everyone liked and he got along with everyone he encountered. He would talk to me about Tammy and his beautiful daughters and always had a sorry to tell. Sorry for your families loss. The world will be a quieter place with John not in it! Thinking of him and you at this sad time. - Posted by: Pam Durst9n (Friend from the Canadian Grain Commission) on: Feb 12, 2025

I'm am so sorry to hear of John's passing. Whenever I think of him, I smile because he was so fun to be around. I got to know him through work and travel with the QMS team at the CGC. He was always the life of the party both during and after work. He was always telling a silly story to make us all laugh. He was a caring, thoughtful, funny, trustworthy stand up guy that I will miss dearly. My sincerest condolences. Debbie Heywood - Posted by: Debbie Heywood (CGC Friend) on: Feb 06, 2025

Dear Rossol family, I was so saddened to hear of John's passing. We have been sharing many memories of John since the news came to us. I got to know him through our ICMS program where we would help each other resolve conflicts. John and I were on the team to create the program. He was so easy to get to know and love! And he knew everyone! I was sad to see him leave CGC as I so enjoyed the times we got to spend together. He was truly a great guy! - Posted by: Judy Elias (College) on: Feb 05, 2025

I knew John through our time at Laura Secord and then we continued on to Gordon Bell. We traveled in different circles but then got reacquainted while planning a 40th reunion in 2019. I really enjoyed our time working on the reunion and found John to be such a caring, thoughtful person. So sad to hear of his passing. He spoke fondly of Tammy and his family. Gone much too soon. - Posted by: Tracy Christie (Friend) on: Feb 05, 2025

Liz Bauer and family. I am so sorry to read of John’s passing, so close to Tammy. John was a fun loving, kind gentle, thoughtful person. Being the youngest I know he was spoiled by his older siblings, and he knew that also. He will be missed. We are away for the winter and will not be attending the service. Take care. - Posted by: Trucia Howard (Friend) on: Feb 02, 2025

Hi Jill, Lana, and family, So very sorry to hear about John. He was such a good soul, and I had always hoped I'd see him again after our CGC careers ended. I met John while temporarily working in Winnipeg (from Prince Rupert) with Rick Risele around 1992. Your new house wasn't quite finished, but he took time out for us, and I am forever grateful to him for extending us his friendship. He made us feel welcome working beside him, and as a lifelong Winnipegger took us all over the city on his lunch hours to visit stores and restaurants we never would have found. He helped us navigate the folks at the CGC office, brought us home for meals a couple of times, and on the second visit a year later, took us to Lake of the Woods to visit Liz and Willi. We were happy to host him in Rupert a few times, and got to show him a bit of the coast. He was all in for boating on the Pacific, and managed to catch a halibut, and shuck crab, with almost as much meat ending up on his old Mustang floater coat as he ate. I would never describe John as shy, and he was always eager to jump in and have another adventure. He had a way of relating his adventure stories with a humour and exaggeration, that made them entertaining as heck, usually ending with a one liner, some that will stay with me forever. Again, very sorry to hear of his passing. Chris King - Posted by: Chris King (Friend) on: Feb 01, 2025
