BRENDAN BERG

OLIVIA MICHALCZUK

It is with broken and the heaviest of hearts to say that Brendan Berg and Olivia Michalczuk were taken away from us on July 1, 2025.

Our dearly beloved Brendan was predeceased by his dad, Aaron, and is survived by his mom, Louise and brother, Stephen (Corrie), aunts, uncles, cousins, special godson/nephew Brycen, and so many friends.

Born in Neepawa, Riverview/Lord Roberts was home except when on the road with his bands, particularly Royal Canoe. His enthusiasms for music, food, hockey and golf, home and garden and travel were ever expanding. His positive nature, kind and gentle ways combined uniquely with his sense of humour, insightful and logical mind.

Our beautiful Olivia was predeceased by her grandparents, Quinton and Olly Charney and Russell and Alice Michalczuk. She will be forever in the hearts of her mom, Donna (Cam), her dad, Tom (Mila), her brother Russell (Carlene) and nephew Brycen. Also missing Olivia are her cousins, extended family and countless friends.

Olivia was a kind and warm soul who loved fiercely. She was always looking to help those in need, and encouraged you to go beyond your limits and was your biggest cheerleader on the sidelines. She had very strong values and lived by those values. Her deep love and curiosity for her Ukrainian culture was immense and inspiring. Her enormous sense of humour and wittiness was unmatched and we will never forget the sound of her laughter.

The formal funeral service, open for all to attend for Brendan and Olivia will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral of Sts. Vladimir and Olga, 115 McGregor Street, Winnipeg. A private family burial will follow.

The funeral will be livestreamed by going to Brendan and Olivia's memorial page at www.seasonsfunerals.com to Watch Webcast or click on the Youtube channel at:

  • Pat and I have known the Sloan/Berg family for many years and are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Brendan always stood out as a special person. Such a kind hearted individual who always acknowledged you and chatted amicably. We didn’t know Olivia but I am sure she was equally loved and loving if she was with Brendan. A heartbreaking loss for everyone that knew them. Our deepest Condolences to both families. - Posted by: Pat and Allyson Sheedy (family friend) on: Jul 25, 2025

  • Olivia was my coworker for only 2 months, but in that time we quickly bonded, often laughing at how similar we were. We would often sit at each other's desks and chat, giggle, and tell each other stories we hadn't told many other people, just because talking to each other was so easy. I was lucky to meet Brendan a few weeks ago at the South Osborne Farmer's Market, where I learned they frequented almost weekly. I was immediately taken by Brendan's charm and kindness. I feel so tremendously grateful to have been able to spend these past couple months getting to know Olivia and becoming friends with her. While the quantity of time we got was little, the quality of time was immense. I extend my greatest sympathies to Olivia and Brendan's family and friends, and all those whose lives they touched. With love and gratitude, Liv - Posted by: Liv Gardiner (Friend and Coworker) on: Jul 16, 2025

  • I have so many memories of Olivia and Brendan. One of my favourites is when Olivia used to sing “Ti Amo” and make up her own words while mimicking the way I used to sing it, we laughed together. She also used to love making fun of me dancing salsa in her own goofy, loving way. She made us laugh and I will always remember and cherish those special times.Brendan and I used to love having an espresso coffee and a cognac together after dinner. I would offer and he always accepted with a smile. We had some great conversations and after not seeing each other for about two years, he hugged me and said “I miss you” with tears in his eyes. That truly touched my heart. ❤️ Heaven has gained two angels and we lost two extraordinary people 😔 - Posted by: Maria costantino (Family friend) on: Jul 16, 2025

  • My heartfelt condolences to the Michalczuk and Berg family! Our family is deeply saddened by this unimaginable loss. May you take comfort in the love, laughter, and joyous moments you shared together. Olivia had a contagious smile and will be missed dearly! I met Olivia at an early age as she would accompany her grandparents to pick up food. We were blessed to be a part of the Michalczuk's family gatherings and celebrations. To watch Olivia blossom into a beautiful woman was a gift! - Posted by: Susie Yuen (Peking) (Family friend) on: Jul 15, 2025

  • Sincere condolences to the families and dear friends of this remarkable, wonderful, gifted young couple. Olivia and I connected last fall to research our shared ancestry. She was pleased to learn of the immigration details of of her great-great-grandparents over 120 years ago. As each family has sadly lost a branch of its family tree, their positive impact has left a memorable gift of inspiration for many of us. PEACE Be With you. - Posted by: Diane Kopansky Wolfman (Olivia’s extended family) on: Jul 12, 2025

  • Condolences to Tom and his entire family. It's a very tough time, but you will pull through this buddy. - Posted by: Kerry Marshall (Friend ad co-worker at A/C for 26 yrs.) on: Jul 12, 2025

  • We want to express how shocked and sickened we were to hear about this tragedy that has taken your dearly loved Brenda and Olivia. We were acquainted with Brendan through the music community when we were able several times to see him perform with our son Mason. Brendan was noticeable because of his stature and handsome appearance ... and more importantly memorable because of his calm, kind and easy personality. We only met Olivia once briefly but had heard many kind and good things about her. As a family we experienced an accident like this and we understand how devastating it is for those loved ones left behind. To both families we send our warmest thoughts and deepest sympathies. - Posted by: Kevin & Rhonda Melle (Friends) on: Jul 12, 2025

  • I would like to express my sincere condolences to olivia and Brendan's families during this difficult time I am so sorry for you loss I first met olivia at the SNA when she was doing the kitchen circle her kindness and warmth made an impression on me I remember her dad Tom came to help us with a soup meal and he recognized me at the Starbucks one time and came over and said hi olivia and I would become facebook friends but unfortunately over time we lost touch she stopped me one time in her travels and we had a short conversation and after that our paths didn't cross again 😢 at kitchen circle she made me feel welcome and even made several trips if needed to make sure everyone got home safe she made a lasting impression on me when I heard I was deeply saddened and shocked olivia you rest in peace now my friend we will all miss you 😔 - Posted by: Charlene (Aquaintance) on: Jul 12, 2025

  • The Berg family were wonderful friends and neighbors. Brendan was always curious and willing to contribute. We were pleased that our son Paul was able to maintain a close relationship with Brendan through their mutual love of music. I believe his first paid gig was washing cars at the Volvo franchise in Winnipeg, gave me the opportunity to realize what a fine heart this individual had. (There is a wonderful photo I would love to share from 1993(?) if there is a way. - Posted by: Dean Wilson (Family friend) on: Jul 12, 2025

  • Brendon was one of many of my son’s friends (Kyle Gray) who gathered at our house on Lorette Ave. I remember him particularly for being so polite, thoughtful & pleasant. He stood out among the horde as an exceptional young man. I am heartbroken, as is Kyle, to hear this dreadful news. Condolences to friends & family. - Posted by: Pierrette Hébert (Friend) on: Jul 12, 2025
