It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Father, Nonno, Uncle Vince.
Vince passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, February 21, 2025, in Winnipeg at 85 years old.
Born in Termini Imerese, Sicily, on March 6, 1939, Vince bravely immigrated to Canada by boat at 14 years old to live with his loving sister, Vincenza, and her family in St. Boniface. Through his hard work and dedication, he built a successful life for himself and his family in Canada as a restaurateur, most notably operating the beloved Grain Exchange Restaurant in downtown Winnipeg where he charmed customers with his stories and authentic food. He had a passion for flying planes, skiing, and fishing. Whether in Winnipeg, Hawaii, Mazatlan, or Sicily, Vince always showered those around him with kindness and care.
He will be lovingly remembered and survived by his children Vincenzo, Serena (Ryan), Michele (Hannah), Nicola (Elizabeth), and Catarina; grandchildren Cecelia and Arnold; cherished nieces and nephews Matteo (Christine), Josephine (Richard), Teresa (Michael), Anna (Todd), and many more. Vince was predeceased by his mother and father; his sister Vincenza; brothers Nicola, Giuseppe, Agostino and Antonino.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Bergmann's On Lombard in the Grain Exchange Building, 167 Lombard Ave.

I seem to remember, a really long time ago, the names of "Pina" & "Matteo" when I lived on "rue Ritchot" in St. Boniface. Somebody lived across the lane from us on "rue Langevin". Somebody helped our father when he wanted the house to have a basement, with concrete walls. I remember somebody saying (often) : "Come on, cement". That must have been someone from your family. So my thoughts are with you in this loss. Know that Heaven is waiting for good people, of which he was one, right? - Posted by: Annette (friend) on: Aug 02, 2025

My deepest Condolences to Vince's family. Vince and I have known each other for many years. He took me and my daughter flying on more than one occasion. I ate lunch in his restaurant when I worked in the Grain Exchange building many years ago. I know how proud he was of his children. Fly high Vince. - Posted by: Gail Hill (Friend) on: Aug 02, 2025
