LINDA CORAL BROTCHIE

November 18, 1954 - June 14, 2025

Over a decade ago l was introduced to Linda at the races at ASD. Linda travelled with me to different states for races and one of the many bright spots was Santa Anita on February 12, 2019. We took Escape Clause there for the La Canada Stakes Race. Linda always told me her favourite jockey was Gary Stevens, who was retired by then. Escape Clause won the race and when we go to the winners circle it was Gary Stevens presenting the trophy. He went to present it to me and l said no, present it to Linda. She received the trophy smiling from ear to ear while on TV with her friends watching at home. She told me that this had been the best day of her life. Two weeks later she was diagnosed with cancer. She fought the cancer with unbelievable courage. Doctors and staff called her Rock Star. We had a trip planned this summer but when Linda came to see me two weeks before she was hospitalized, I could see her health failing fast. She was still determined we were going. Just a few words to describe Linda - Good, Honest, Helpful, Thoughtful, Kind, Strong.

She was taken far too soon.

Linda passed on June 14, 2025.

Interment took place at Morris Funeral Home.

Rest in Peace, Linda

We miss you

Don Schnell and friends.

  • I met Linda when I bought my horse in Stonewall and she had her horse at the same boarding stable. We rode every weekend and then started to go to horse shows together. Later we started team penning. In all the years I’ve known Linda she was always the kindest and gracious person and we had so much fun together. Hank and I will miss her dearly. RIP sweet lady. - Posted by: Lorrie and Hank Dodf (Friends) on: Aug 19, 2025

  • Linda was our neighbor for 26 years. On one occasion I asked her to look at a horse for our daughters. She thought that the horse might not be a good fit. A year later we saw the same horse at a clinic and it turned out her assessment was correct! Linda was very kind and considerate. Our sincere condolences to Linda’s family. - Posted by: Harold & Maggie (Neighbors) on: Aug 18, 2025

  • I worked with Linda at Manitoba Hydro for 15 years in Methods and Procedures. Linda always had a smile on her face and lit up the room that she walked into with her radiance of positivity. Linda brought enjoyment to the workplace with her sense of humour and talking about her horses. My condolences to all of her family and friends. May her memory be a blessing to all. Rest in peace Linda. - Posted by: Debbie Meilleur (Former Co-Worker) on: Aug 16, 2025

  • I was blessed to have met Linda through connections at ASD many years ago. We had many good laughs sitting at the green corner bench, betting on the races, and partaking in a few beverages, which some ended up on white shorts, but all in good fun. I spent the last couple of years walking with Linda through St. Vital Park and surrounding neighbourhoods, and we weren't allowed to stop until those 10,000 steps or more were achieved. Those were the best times as I got to know Linda more and more about her cancer journey. She fought with great courage, strength, and dignity; truly an inspiration. You will be missed, my friend. - Posted by: Sherri Barrault (friend) on: Aug 16, 2025

  • We met Linda 30 years ago when she was a board member of the CTHS. It was the beginning of a great friendship and partnership in many racing stables at ASD. It was there Linda met and fell in love with the horse she would take home, LT Regent. Linda was our hero during her valiant cancer fight and taught us so much about bravery and resilience. RIP Linda. You will always be loved and remembered. Ron and Diane. - Posted by: Diane Duncan (Friend) on: Aug 16, 2025
